Trying to decide on a room. Def. a balcony. Do not want fore or aft.
Any comments of which type of room balacony or mini-suite? Is there that much difference?
thanks.

The crown is what is considered a Grand class (the Grand Princess was the first of that design). For my $$, the best balcony cabin would be a BB or a BA (on the new deck plans called B2 and B1), but on the Caribe deck. The Caribe deck balcony cabins have a balcony that is almost twice the size of the balconies on the decks above them. Half the blacony is open to the sky above (and the decks above) and half is covered. The mini-suites on the decks below you have about the same size balcony, but are totally exposed.

As to where, we prefer a mid ship cabin. Less motion on rough sea days and a less distance to walk to an elevator or stairway. Aft cabins have a great view on sea days, but can be disturbing when you wake up in port and look out only to see the bow of another massive ship coming at you. Foreward cabins have a lot more motion on rough days. When picking a cabin always look and see what will be right above you or right below you on the other decks. Right under the Lido or pools area can be noisey in the mornings and right above a bar, club or theater can be loud if you tend to go to bed before midnight.

Hope this helps and welcome to CruiseAddicts.

Good advice above. We like the extra room of the mini suites. The minis on the Emerald deck are covered but they are more towards the aft of the ship. If you could get the first two or so on either side there should be less motion. If you go with one of those be sure to mark it no upgrade or you could wind up in a mini with no cover if that is a problem for you.

Our last cruise was on the Crown. It was a wonderful ship with a great staff. Food was some of the best we have had on Princess too. You'll have a great cruise.
