New to Cruise addicts

Hi All, I am new to the forum and I have never been on a cruise before. I am particularily interested in taking a cruise to Alaska. My anniversary is approaching and I would like to surprise my wife. Any suggestions about what the best cruise line is?

Welcome to a great community of friendly and knowledgeable folks. Our first Alaskan cruise was with Princess and we would certainly sail with them again. The Island Princess was a beauty of a ship and we had chosen that particular itinerary because it included Glacier Bay, which is a destination that not every cruiseline and ship do. Our second Alaskan cruise will be next summer with Carnival. Ask your questions over on the Q&A board and also on the Alaska forum. Enjoy your stay.

Welcome aboard. We just came off our 2nd Alaska cruise, we took Celebrity both times.

I really think that picking the right cruise line for you involves knowing what you like (do you want to party a lot, or do you want nice, quiet, elegant surroundings, or something in between?), deciding what kind of ship you want (larger or smaller), and what itinerary you would like. Research is half the fun!

We have always cruised with Celebrity to Alaska, we are about to take out 5th in September We also like to book the aft cabins so we get to to see the scenery on both sides of the ship
I think any cruise line would be ok as Alaska in stunning

Thanks to everyone who has responded to my newbie post. I am getting the message that the Celebrity Line is pretty good.. I have yet more to think about..
