we talked hours yesterday, seems they want her to run her own mall all by herself in a suburb off of Chicago, they were going to give her 6 months to think about it as of Monday this week, yesterday they pulled her into a meeting and said they were firing the manager of the new mall near Chicago today and she had to decide by Wed(today) if she wanted the shop and she would leave to go live there the first week of this November. We tried to list all the pros and cons of her staying or leaving, more cons much more than pros(plus she has finally had a relationship with a guy for 8 months, the longest ever,I told her it had to be her decision(I think the only thing keeping her from absolutely staying is her contract)she feels she has a obligation to go since she knew it was part of her job description,if she says no they would probably keep her thru the holidays but then she would lose her job.I am waiting anxiously to see what she decides, havent heard anything yet,she meets with her GM in a few hours.

That has to be a tough decision. Do you know where in chicago this mall is at?
Wishing your DD the best whatever she should decide.

Connie no I dont know where ,she looked it up last night and it only has 56 thousand people and the median range for housing is 931 dollars a month, she pays 715 a month now,and heating will be very high there as well, she will of course make more money, right now I just got off the phone with her she is leaning towards staying here, she hasnt slept yet and went in to work at 5:30 this morning, her boss is leaving to a new mall in a week!So Rachael will probably get to stay thru the holidays as they will be without her boss as well,I said why cant you take your bosses place, she said it doesnt work that way,you go where they send you.So she is just hoping the GM doesnt change her mind, she is dreading the meeting this afternoon, her heart is in her throat.

Hope all works well for her. Chicago area is a great place. Maybe she should look at it as a new venture - she could always come back if it doesn't work out! Jobs are hard to find these days.

Good Luck!

I live in the suburbs of Chicago and there is no place like it. I tried Tampa for six months some years back and moved back in January of 1989...does that tell you how much I love my hometown?
