Party of six - two couples with two teens traveling on the Miracle. Yourself?

It is just my wife and I. This will be her third trip on Carnival (Holiday, Jubilee) and my second (Jubilee). We had a window cabin on the Jubilee and enjoyed our morning coffee sitting in the window. Spent an extra $100 or so and have an extended balcony this time. Really looking forward to our morning coffee outside this time. Lousy weather here in Illinois and although I haven't started counting the days yet I have started gathering "stuff", the essentials for the trip.

Going to be in Jacksonville a day early or maybe two days knowing us. Planning on getting to the dock early in hopes of getting on early and enjoying the time exploring the ship We are in room 7198 at this time. I don't know about upgrades and it really doesn't matter, we picked the room and are more than happy with where we are. Although we are up higher this time. We never used the elevators on our first trip together and the stair climbing was helpful in maintaining some weight control. Plus we didn't get caught up in eating as part of the cruise routine. Probably missed out on some good food but that's the way it goes.

Sounds like you all dedicated to Carnival. This will be our fifth cruise - three previous on Carnival (twice on Paradise and once on Victory). The only other line we have experienced is RCCL - we did not enjoy it nearly as much.

We, too, have splurged for the extended balcony on the Empress deck. We have experienced the whole spectrum from a suite on our first cruise, to an oceanview, to a balcony, and even to bunks shared by four. Obviously, the suite was the ultimate, but a balcony cabin is an extremely close second!

We are enjoying some beautiful 70 degree weather here in Houston this week. It is a delightful change from the awful, rainy weather we have endured the last two weeks (unfortunatley, including the week we were playing hosts for Super Bowl!)

Our last cruise was in July out of New York to Canada. We were expecting to enjoy the cooler weather that Canada has to offer at the time of year when Houston is sweltering. To our surprise, we actually prefer what the Caribbean has to offer. On the Canada trip, we missed being able to sit comfortably outside in the mornings and evenings.

Unfortunately, we will be arriving in Jacksonville the morning of departure. Traveling with another family, our schedule is not necessarily our own. Our flight does arrive around 11 am, however, so that should allow us the opportunity to board early as well. The family we are traveling with have never cruised before - they will enjoy exploring the ship as much if not more than we will.

Enjoy the anticipation!

We're neighbors...just five cabins down. You must have the one with the balcony that stretches the length of the cabin - enjoy!

The only information I have on the balcony is based on the deckplan and from the layout it would seem all the cabin balcony's are the length/width of the cabin. I get the impression that you speak from experience. I thought the extended balcony was in regards to being a bit wider, extending out rather than length. It really doesn't matter, we just love the idea of being able to be outside of the cabin. When you say you are five cabins down are you indicating towards the stern or the bow. Maybe we will run into you but have a great gruise...we will I am sure.

Yes, balconies are the length/width of the cabin; however, it seems you all may have a cabin that has the widest point in the "bow to stern" direction rather than narrow and deep - in which case your balcony will be both deep and wide. We have never had the good fortune of having such a balcony, but we have visited a cabin that did. Hope I am not misleading you...but in any case, you will love the balcony!

We are five cabins toward the bow. Perhaps we will see you...and certainly we will all be enjoying a great cruise!

Susanmac,

I have printed out the Cruise Addicts logo to put on our door, hope to see you on the ship. Is your cabin on the starboard side?

I think the reason our cabin sits different is because it's a handicapped room. I can't wait to see the ship and check out the balcony.

Nine days and a wake up :-)

Thumperjb,

Yes, our cabin is on the starboard side. Hope, as well, to see you on the ship!
