We are looking a booking an Alaskan cruise for September 2006 on the Coral. We have been quoted a very good price for a mini suite { the same price as a regular balcony cabin}. They are also giving us on board cedit of $100.00. We were on the Caribbean Princess in May and our cabin was midship.
Will there be more movment? I am turning to the experts for advice.

You will feel the up and down movement (pitch) of the ship more at the bow or stern. However, in the inside passage the water is protected and thus the ship is not going to pitch very much at all. If I were you, I would grab this deal ASAP!

Thanks for the info.
We are going on a northbound glacier, will this be different from the inside passage?
We will probably book on monday.

The first part of your cruise will be in the inside passage. The last part will be in the open ocean. I think you are only going to be in the open ocean for a day or two. During that time you could feel the pitch of the ship more IF the ocean is rough. However, I was on a two week cruise in 1999 (the same as doing a north and south bound, except everyone stayed on the ship for two weeks) on a much smaller ship (23,000 GRT) and I never felt a thing. Of course the weather was great.

Thanks again for the info.
Now I am excited, I knew I could count on the experts.

I hope you are aware that those AF cat mini's on the Coral and the Island have no balcony. They are big and where the balcony is would be incorporated into the size of the room. The description states floor to ceiling windoes and this is not true either. They have a larger window that is approx 2' X 3'. Ther are 4 cabins on Baja and 4 cabins on Caribe 201,202,203 and 204 that are like this. Hope this helps.

Thanks you very much, I was not aware that they weren't balcony cabins.
I haven't had time to book yet and I will definitly reconsider this cabin. We really want a balcony. I quess that's why it's a lot less expensive.
Thanks again.

If I were you, I would definitely not book those cabins. Our 4 tablemates had 2 cabins very close to those you mentioned and were kept awake 2 nights on our Coral Panama Canal cruise in 3' seas - yes, only 3 feet!! We were mid-ship and hardly felt a thing. Location makes a huge difference on Princess ships compared to RCI ships.

The sea can get rough in Alaska (from what I've heard) and it would be worth the extra money to move down the Dolphin Deck a bit to a mid-ship location. This is JMHO. Sure, there'll be others that disagree, but I know I would want a truthful, un-glossed over recommendation. Anything that will make your vacation more perfect, is worth hearing! :)

Thank you very much, we have decieded to book a regular balcony cabin midship. It will be the 1st cruise for our friends and I want them to have a good expreince.
In May we were on the Caribbean Princess in B259 which is closer to the bow, we had 12ft waves for almost 2 days and we didn't feel to much.
