Might book with RCI, have questions

Thinking of booking four couples on the Navigator , Explorer or Jewel for next April Eastern Caribbean cruise. Haven't been on Royal Caribbean since 1996 and was wondering if they have 24 hour pizza and ice cream. Also, noticed the "bump' in the ship's layout. Do these cabins have bigger balconies or might they be obstructed? And was wondering if the bathrooms are still very small. Have not been on one of their mega liners and last seven cruises were on Princess or Carnival so I will probably be asking you guys quite a few questions. Bear with me. Any help would be appreciated

The voyager class ships have the cafe promenade where pizza is available 24 hours a day. Recently the Mariner only had free ice cream until 11:00 PM. I don't remember them having that on the Radiance but I'm not 100% positive.

I've never had a bump cabin so I can't help there.

The bathrooms are still tiny but the Navigator has doors on the shower now which is a wonderful idea. The Jewel will also have them.

I'm sure someone else will chime in with more answers.

Feel free to ask away. If we're not on a cruise our favorite topic is cruising!

What ship did you sail on in 1996?

On the VOyager the Ice cream was not available 24 hours....it was down a lot for cleaning. (kids make tons of messes) Pizza is there....but not as good as Carnival. On the Navagoator and the Explorer there is a cafe that you can get good sandwhiches or litte desserts.
The balconies on the Bump out are not obstructed. You will be able to look out to the left and right . Deck 8 seems to be the most wanted. Unless you go to the aft.

In 1996 we were on the beautiful, Song Of America--one of my favorite ships of our 12 cruises. We have not been on the voyager class ships yet. We think we need a change though, so we are considering RCI. I do all the looking and comparing the report back to the rest of the group. Of course, all the guys are interested in is the pizza, casino and ice cream. They don't care too much about the itinerary , room size, etc. but us girls do.
We like to book quite a few months in advance so we can get a good choice of four cabins together. I was also wondering if they have a place to purchase lattes, ice cream sodas or specialty desserts ( like a coffee bar.) Not that we need it, but I try to get a ship that please everyone. Also, what about the exercise facilities. Do they have a lot of equipment and is it kept in good working order? I am getting excited now---as you know planning is half the fun of cruising. Patty

There is a Seattles Best Coffee stand right at the Cafe Promenade. There is also a Ben and Jerry's Ice cream shop. Both of these do have an additional fee. If you check out my pictures Sailingrose's Mariner right here at cruise addicts there are a few pictures of the gym. They had plenty of machines but we did try to go when everyone was getting ready for 1st seating. Never had a problem getting a treadmill. We also tried out the gym on the Navigator and the Explorer and had no problems getting machines there either.

Keep asking away.......

The Voyager class ships have everything you want and then some. You can always go to Johnny Rockets for the best malts, shakes, sundaes etc. But, it you are just looking for something sweet after dinner or late at night, whatever, you can always go to the Cafe Promenade for hot cookies, cakes, several different desserts are always available. I would order a double espresso on ice then ask for a carton or milk and make my own iced latte! Really a treat. The pizza is available there 24 hrs also but it varies in quality, sometimes really good, sometimes so-so. You won't go hungry that is for sure and there is always something going on somewhere on the ship so no boredom on these cruises either. I think you will love every minute! We have our first "bump" cabin booked so can't answer questions yet but we are on deck 10 (our favorite deck!).
