We just used Amtrac to return from San Francisco to Vancouver.  Oakland to Seattle was quite an experience and I would not recommend it.  Bumpy and rough all the way toilets out of commision etc..

Seattle to Vancouver is another experience all together.  Great cars fairly smooth great scenery and would highly recommend it.  Great way to start you cruise or end it for that matter.
