you have further reason to be proud..the discipline as Michelle says ..the first 3 days are a BEAR!! after I have been on a mini-vacation/cruise.. to get back in the swing..plus having vanity in as a sin helps..=eek..the thought of really letting myself go, and then having to "look at myself".. can curb my yummo attacks..!!( and the final straw of saying to Mark-yuppers I cannot keep away from the trough enough to not need an entire new real people AND cruise wardrobe..:(..)..:(.. That thought alone can make me stick to low carbs..yikes!!
I have been under MD care on my low carb health plan for 21 years..and a grand total of 26 years of under 2 MD's.. and has been said it's tricky in that you have to really be firm on certain alloted things.. and I have been further graced with naturally low blood pressure , and genetically graced with a "good cholesterol" number that is triple most folks ( thanks Momma!!..as is touted on a certain commercial..)..it really is true about family genetics on those lipids .. but the one saving grace I have in the last 3 years...*sigh* my job..I used a pedometer for a few weeks.. when you truck between 7-11 miles A DAY!! at my nurse job.. all that walking/zooming sure wails down those carbs..

keep it up Dear Paesana..=hugs..Joanne

Mary Ann, that is absolutely fantastic! Both for your health and because it means we'll have you around longer! Congratulations!

Good for you Mary Ann! Shows you have great will-power!

It sounds like a great diet, and I too would be interested in the list of vegetables. That's where it gets confusion, which ones have no carbs?

My dd made a wonderful eggplant parmesian last night. Wonder if eggplant is on the list?

.

Mary Ann, I have a cupboard full of shrunken clothes! :dizzy

Congratulations on your weight loss! :thumb Keep up the good work.

Congratulations Mary Ann. I'm so proud of you. This diet makes my dairy free portion sound whimpy. You have incredible will power.

Congrats on the weight loss & the will power to stick with it.
Like you said it will be worth it in the end.

Way to go lady! It is hard work to stay on any diet and yours sounds like it is harder to manage than most. Great Big Kudos to you for doing this. Keep up the great work.

Again, thanks my friends. The biggest incentive is seeing the scale go down steadily when, most of my life, I've had a horrible time losing weight. I hadn't gotten "morbidly obese", but far too heavy for my own good.

Eggplant IS on the permitted list, Reggae - 1/2 cup ONLY, and without cheese. ;) What I do is combine 2 portions of veggies (I'm allowed 3 per day) - 1/2 cup eggplant, 1/2 cup diced canned tomatoes and cook slowly on the stovetop until the eggplant is done. I have to add salt (for electrolytes). Even without this diet, I normally have my food much blander than most people would like, so that part hasn't been an issue for me. Some veggies are measured by 1/2 cup, some by the size - for example, 1 green pepper is one portion, but only 1/2 cucumber is one portion. That manual of do's and don'ts in my bible right now.

Joanne - you are so blessed to have a fantastic lipid panel!

Congratulations Mary Ann. Terrific weight loss like that is really and incentative. Seems I have spent most of my life dieting. The last year I have been a little more successful than in past. Right now my big bugaboo is fresh fruit I just crave it. Hopfully when meds get adjusted low carb will be easier for me to follow again. I am hoping for a new cruise wardrobe next year.

:thumb :thumb :thumb Mary Ann!

I know how difficult this is, although the one I'm on is less strict. Next time we talk, I'll tell you what my doctor said about hunger. (Of course, each one of us is different.)

Keep up the great work!

OMG....that is amazing Mary Ann!! I'm so happy for you and proud! You should be commended. Sticking to an extremely restrictive diet is tough, and I bow to your strong will!
