Mahogany Bay Roatan

We've been twice and it is a lovely port. Last time there we went to a private resort so we plan on just exploring the beach at Mahogany Bay as we didn't do the beach the first time we were there...it was cool and rained. There is a skylift to the beach or a walkway.

Here is a link to their Website:

This looks great! After the AI at Mr. Sanchez in Cozumel - I will just stay in port and ride that sky lift! Thanks for posting!

From the pictures it looks like there is a steep walk way you have to take after you get off the ship. Is this true?

Unique to Mahogany Bay is a new chair lift system that takes cruise ship guests from the welcome center to beautiful Mahogany Beach, a 10-acre private island featuring an 825-foot-long white-sand beach with a beach volleyball court and myriad watersports opportunities. The cost of riding the chair lift is $12 for an ALL DAY PASS. It transports guests of all ages who are at least 32 inches tall. We also feature eight exclusive cabanas at Mahogany Beach that are also available for rent. Please contact your cruise line to book these and all other available excursions.

Even though there is a chair lift and if there is a steep walkway how could one get on the chair lift if they walk with a walker? The steep walkway would be too hard for this person to walk. The chair lift doesn't completely stop so you can get on or off. This can cause big problems for people who are not steady on their feet. I am baffled about how steep the walk way is.

I agree and I have read everything on the website and see nothing that says anything about it. I know when I spoke with Denise on Sunday she said her small scooter had a hard time getting up the hill.

She mentioned something out emailing and seeing if they had a golf cart to transport you over - maybe you could email them and see. There is a form to contact them.

I read somewhere it was accessible for wheelchairs - but can not find that info now

Evie, I don't remember the walkway from the ship to the center of the resort area/shops being steep as my travelscoot did fine. Now from the area were the Skychairs to the beach if you walked, it was hilly and I didn't trust my travelscoot in being able to get up the hill.
