Laundry Service

The last time we cruised on the Maasdam they had a wonderful laundry / ironing/pressing service that you could take advantage of and prepay for this service. They also had a self serve laundry facility onboard the Maasdam. Are these services available on the Oosterdam??

The Oosterdam does have the prepaid laundry/ironing/pressing service that is done in the ship's laundry facilities, the same as you experienced on Maasdam. But, as Cruzman already stated, HAL did away with the self-service laundry facilities on the new class of ships.

We used the $12-a-bag service twice -And I was impressed. It took 3 days to come back but everything was pressed beautifully and on hangers or wrapped in tissue in a basket. In 1 bag we had 5 shirts, and Dick's sox and underwear plus 2 Pr my sox and a blouse and one slacks. This was on a 4-week cruise. I could do my stuff easily by hand and quick-dry it on the line provided in the shower. There is an all-inclusive service -I think it was $120 dollars. WE didn't feel we needed that -and we didn't BTW -That list was ONE bag -not 2 bags........They carry a BUNCH if you roll them tightly.

Vista class ships, as has been said, do not have self service laundry. You can pay to have laundry done, or if you are in a suite, laundry is complimentary. However, buyer beware as I have seen more than one passenger complain that shirts came back shrunken, colors faded, or colors bled from other garments. It may not be the norm, but I probably would not use this service...FYI

I always use the laundry service included in the price of a Suite and have been well pleased with the service as far as shorts, tee shirts, DH's underwear, sports shirts, polo shirts and tuxedo shirt.

I do not send out my "dainties" and would never send out a very fine (very costly or delicate) garment or a knit. such as a St. John. I have those cleaned at my local place.

We just got off the Rotterdam, and were in a Penthouse Suite, and the laundry was very slow in returning. Usually if you had the laundry ready to go by 9am, it would return by the next afternoon, but on this cruise, you were lucky if it came back in three days.
