On #TravelTuesday we have a top 10 list for people and organizations in travel that are the best of the best.# We have another top 10 list for travel people who specialize in cruise vacations.# These are the people who live and breathe the cruise industry 25/7,# every day.# They play out their roles in different ways but all share a love of the sea and are fascinated by the cruise business.# Doug Parker of CruiseRadio.net (@CruiseRadio) is one of those people and he’s my focus for this #FollowFriday.
My job here today is pretty easy because if you want to know more about Doug, you can read about him in Porthole magazine.# An article written by another friend and Friday Feature, JD Andrews (@EarthXplorer) tells all about Doug, sidekick Matt Bassford* and CruiseRadio, the fledgling online radio station that brings in-depth interviews and information from around the world of cruises to your desktop each week.# If you have not had a listen or haven’t had a listen lately, do it.# Like following @CruiseRadio on twitter, being a regular listener will add a new dimension to your travel experience.
That’s not the reason I’m featuring Doug Parker today though.
Doug is on this list because he “gets it” about social engagement and how it can work for you personally on a very real level.## Doug is constantly (I mean ALL the time) looking for ways to open new conversations,# shape ongoing discussion and even dig up old-school communication tools if they will add value to what he does and what he helps others accomplish.# Doug stopped by my office North of Orlando the other day on his way from Fort Lauderdale to Jacksonville after a press conference with Holland America.# If you know the layout of Florida, that’s# not exactly right on the way and took some doing to make it by.## He wanted to talk about a number of topics and our conversation reminded me of how very inquisitive he is about all things cruising.
There’s an undeniable hunger for knowledge there that he shares on line and over the “air” with CruiseRadio that is contagious.
