Good morning all!! Hope everyone is having better weather this morning. Thanks goodness the wind seems to be laid here today. It is only 39 thugh but hopefully warm up later this morning. Paw and I are heading out to find him some impatients. This is a challenge for him nd his limited walking-he finally gave up trying to make it around the green house which has best plants as the impatiens were on far side of building.

Looked on Royal Carribean site abt excursions fr Jewel but still too early .

Good morning Maw, and the rest of you Jewels...
Maw, I am so glad that you were not affected by those storms.
I posted this on the HAL group cruise board also.. I am not that creative as to come up with something different for both boards :grin

For us, it was a working weekend.

Einstein wanted to repaint all the windows before the summer heat kicked in, so Friday evening was a visit to the home improvement store to pick up supplies.
Supposedly, Saturday should be great weather, Sunday they said that in the late afternoon we could start to see wetter weather. As usual, they were wrong :lol

Saturday was good. We were up at around 7, it was too damp with dew for us to start anything.
This community does a neighbourhood garage sale every year. This years was scheduled for today., so we got dressed and went around the neighborhood to see what the garage sales held.
NEVER schedule something like this on a holiday weekend!
There were not many people participating, so it really did not take us long to make the rounds and come back home. We spent not one red cent :grin
Last years was great. That is where I found the solid oak coffee table with the busted top glass for $8.
She had wanted $10, but I asked her if she would take 8 and she could keep the broken glass :grin She agreed. I came home, cleaned it up, put a half inch piece of plywood as a support where the glass had been, and topped it with a sheet of oak that our printer friend printed a copy of our Caribbean map on the top.
At first it was in this upstairs media room, but the other week when we bought a new TV cabinet for the downstairs TV, we swapped TV tables, so it is now in the living room where you can see it a whole lot better.
here is a couple of pictures.

and a picture of the top. Other than that 4 inch wide outer boarder, the rest had been glass.

I was just not lucky this year.

We.. EINSTEIN.. then started on the back windows. he removed the screens and then sanded and roughing up the paint, he painted them and then cleaned up the paint on the window pains with a razor.
Due to height constraints, I was not a whole lot of help to him on this. I could only help with the windows for the dining room, and one pane of the front room windows.

Half way through all this, he decided that he might as well replace all the screening. So after painting, he went out and purchased the screening supplies.

I kept busy on doing things in the house, and I did get in and vacuum the pool, That was about it for me.
Saturday night was card night, and we went to our friends. They have a hot tub, and Einstein needed it :grin
Sunday we awoke to some nasty skies, so we jumped up and Einstein got started on the screen replacement, while I windexed the windows I could reach.
It poured down, but E was determined to finish up at least the back of the house. So he took everything to his shed and worked there.
I could do no more on the outside, so I went in and started cleaning the windows on the inside, then giving the wood frames a much needed wiping of oil to restore them.

I think we were through about 1.30. I finished up about an hour before that, and went and had a much needed shower. It was really cold outside by now, The rain had stopped, but it was cold and damp, The temp did not get past 58* all day.

I told Einstein that we were through. He had told his mum when he called her to wish her a Happy Mothers Day.. that we would go to the stores. I told him that was not happening. there was nothing we could not live without, and the rest of the day was for REST :lol
So he cleaned up, and we ate a hearty meal early.
Then there was golf to watch, and then the hockey, I gave up on that, and read :lol
But I had to laugh... the penguins won.
I told Einstein that BSeaBob must be spinning about now :lol
for those that do not know. my knowledge of sports could fit on the head of a pin, and leave room for the encyclopedia.
But two years ago I unofficially "joined" his pool. I picked.. I forget.. but they won. Last year I officially entered his pool, and picked some other team, the ducks.. and THEY WON.. this year.. I picked the penguins :lol

OH yes.. the weather bug chirped, and I found out that from 2 until 8 last night, we were again in a tornado watch. We have been in one pretty much since Friday.
So I was NOT a Happy camper.
I have had 5 near brushes with them, one that you could measure in yards.. I have dealt with many hurricanes, typhoons, floods, earthquakes.. but these things scare me the most. I pace!...
I was worried this morning when E brought in the paper at 6, before he headed off to work, and I saw that although NC had been spared, Missouri had taken a hit.
I was relieved to see that Maw and Corky had posted after them.

So... that was our weekend. Unfortunately, next weekend will see "windows part two" as the front of the house still has to be done.
But Einstein did a great job on the back ones, and the new screens look great.

Maw, I went to "Roses" department store on Sunday, and they had double impatiens for $1.25 so I picked up a few. They often have great prices on garden stuff.
What Paw needs is someone to build him some raised flower beds. the ones that will allow him to work them even sitting in a chair.

I know how much he likes his flowers.
Oh Maw, I saw where you said that you wished someone had a camera when I was covered in mud, and wet through to the bone..
Well, you ever pop out and hope that no one sees you, and you bump into everyone under the sun?
I figured I was safe, it was pouring with rain, who would be out to see me make my way to the garage door and punch in the code?
My next door neighbors!!! they were out on their porch talking.

:grin

So how about you??

PS ... Not too worry maw as I have NOW given both of our neighbors spare cameras for upcoming photos. :grin
