Jeeeesssssshhhhhhhh the winds are bad!

The Chinook winds have started and it is freezing right now. But the winds will bring us warmer temps. Unfortunately for our area we are expected to get hurricane force winds through the night and into tomorrow. 80 to 100 MPH. There are ground blizzards out there right now. I have the battery lanterns ready just in case. If I'm not online in the morning look for me in Kansas. Where the heck did I put those ruby slippers! :lol :lol

Yeah, we know about strong winds, having had one bad hurricane force storm stall overhead for 10 darn hours! This is what it did to us: (sheared right through the 4x4's...)

We are under a high wind watch for tomorrow morning through the night, sustained winds of 40mph gusting to 60 throughout the day. I-80 is already closed west of Laramie, WY, and will probably stay that way for a while. Know all about those winds. They began to roar through here in western PA tuesday night with heavy rains and thunderstorms. Continued through all day yesterday. Broke a record high of 63.

Same thing happened last Wednesday -- that time our power went out at 3:50 AM and didn't come back on until after 9 AM in our area. Only difference -- temperatures were down in the low 20's.

Yup the weather is moving east. Our storms move east and then sometimes intensify as they go over the plains. Batten down the hatches. My Mom is also in western PA.

The thing about the Chinook winds here is they bring in the warm temperatures. Chinook is an Indian term for snow eater.

Well the winds are back. Trash cans are flying and everything else that isn't tied down. Gonna be a rocking and rolling kind of day they say.

Feel bad for John,out in this but my mom in WI says they are on the 3rd day of closed schools(never happens there,kids usually have to go anyway)and 12 inches of snow and below zero temps,so I will be thankful for our crap which is much less!

the winds get bad in my area also and they go on for days and days. They say we are going to get warm weather by the week end that would be great. My sinus condition does not like wind and I am glad that it has stopped for the time being. And poor dh likes to fly his model airplanes and can't with the winds.
