Is dining attire expected the first night?

Please don't flame me for this. I know what a sore subject dress is on this board. I know you get your luggage delivered to your cabin and many people will not have it by dinner time. I just thought that the first night would be casual. I'm not dressing formally on the plane. Thanks.

The subject of "dress" is a sticky subject on all cruise forums and no you don't have to dress up the first night. I never have my luggage before my assigned dining time so I wear what I had on when I boarded the ship.

First nights on cruises are casual dress for just that reason - many people do not get their luggage before leaving for dinner. No problems!

=yeah...I travel from Vermont..wear casual comfy on the plane..we always go pre-cruise too, overnight to relax from stressing out to get there....but I bring swimsuits and a change of clothes in a carry on for DH Mark and I just in case with me to board the ship..(takes hardly any room...slacks for DH and capris for me) ...so if luggage is REALLY delayed...we can relax by the pool..and we have a change of casual for dinner that night..enjoy it all..:grin..you are gonna love it!!..:)..Joanne

No it isn't. Casual is the attire and that ranged anywhere from pants/skirts to shorts and t-shirts on nav. of the seas 8/21 cruise.

No worries.
