Well I planned this to go through the new locks. But as digging in the Panama was and apparently still is something that is never on budget or time will get to see the new digs partially completed on a tour from Colon instead.
Will have to settle for the celebration of 100 yrs of the Canal being open. It is really a great experience and everyone should try to get there during your cruising years if at all possible.

By chance anyone else heading this way too?

We are going full transit from FLL to LAX. What Panama / Colon Excursion on Celebrity do you recommend. Want to see the old locks and Old Town if possible.

Ive been through the canal on x a number of times. I can not recommend any of the excursions. Sorry. It's a great experience for sure but i had the excursion of my life with a private firm. It included a whole bunch of places and things. The new locks were not open yet however. We walked too the middle of the canal to the control Towers mid canal. Inside pic is of the old controls.
