I'm New to This!

I'm a single 67 year old male that is trying to plan for extensive cruise ship living to travel the world. I'd like to set sail within 5 years (maybe sooner).

Most trips are based on double booking, but I plan to go it alone. Is there any trick to getting around this? I suppose I could invite my daughter (we're close), but I'd rather be free to do what I want. If I'm alone, will I always feel like the odd man out?

I plan on doing a trip of about one-year in duration. Is it best to book something like this with a group of like minded seniors? For example with a tour guided trip itinerary.

I could really benefit from the experiences of seasoned cruisers. Thanks in advance for any tips or tricks.

Good luck. More and More newer ships of mainstream lines are building in single rooms. Just use your friend google to determine exactly. However older ships generally carry cheaper fares. Good luck. There are lots of stories around of persons traveling long term.
