Iced Tea?

My fiance and I are cruising on the Miracle on 10/24/04 for our honeymoon, and it will be the first cruising experience for both of us. First of all, this forum has been SO helpful and I appreciate all the great information-- I'm so excited, I'm not sure how I'm going to survive the 6-plus months until we sail!

One question-- I am an avid iced tea drinker (should probably have an IV drip of the stuff), and I know "tea" is free on cruises... does that include iced tea or just hot? Is it brewed fresh, or from a machine? I know this may seem silly, but if the tea is crappy I plan to bring my own!

Thanks again to all of you for this forum...

Yes they have iced tea as well as hot tea.It is non sweetened so if you like sugar you will have to add. I like it without sugar so for me it is just right.

Not silly at all. I asked the same question about the hot tea choices, and like you, would have brought my own.
One thing I enjoy doing is making my own hot tea, in the largest plastic glass they have around there, with one of the specialty tea bags, then pour over ice for fresh iced tea.

If I remember correctly, I think the ice tea is instant. It may vary from cruise line to cruise line, maybe someone else has a better recollection. I do remember it not being very good.

The tea is OK but unsweetened. I, myself, think that unsweetened tea is Communist and have to have sugar in mine. I am from the South and when tea is referred to, it is already assumed that it is sweet.

Scottie, why bother drinking tea then? Just open up the sugar packets and suck 'em down! :)

As I prefer my iced tea with lemon, no sugar, I nearly choked when I tried "sweet tea" for the first time... talk about rude awakening!!

Anyway, someone please clue me in on the iced tea situation on the Miracle, because if it's instant and/or out of a soda fountain-style contraption, then I need to make other plans-- that stuff is awful!!

The tea on the Paradise was brewed tea. It is made in the galley and the dispenser is filled from time to time. Here in the South sweetea is a single word. It is also known as the wine of the south. Only non southerners ask for unsweetened tea. I am unusual, as I am a southerner and drink mine unsweetened. My daughter likes hot tea, and that is not normal here too.

Cori--no offense but I will assume you are from the North. Sweet tea is a like a drug and you can become addicted very easily. Come on down to God's Country and stop in at a small town BBQ (that is pork from a pig, not hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill) restaurant and you can find out what real tea is supposed to taste like.

With as much tea as I drink, if I drank sweet tea all day long I'd weigh 500 pounds! No offense to Southerners, but no thanks-- that's just too much sugar for me. (Sweet tea does taste pretty good, though, once you get used to it!)

We enjoyed the tea on the Triumph & the Conquest. I do no like tea out of a machine. We take cold brew tea bags & "brew" a glass in our room while we are getting ready for dinner or just relaxing in the cabin for the pm. Just throw some ice in a glass, add water & a tea bag & voila, a few minutes later a glass of iced tea. This is great if your cabin is a long ways away from the Lido Deck. We bring sweetener too.

Okay, haven't been on the Miracle but have been on the Spirit and Glory.
The Ice Tea is from a dispenser, not soda type, but like the Lemonade and Fruit Punch come out of. It is the closest Non-Brewed to Brewed Iced Tea I've ever had. It is very good and I also should be getting the stuff feed to me intraveiniuosly, since I live on the stuff. It is available 24 hours a day at any of the beverage stations on the Lido deck (in the buffet and outside on the deck) and they have any type of sweetner you want to add (Pink, Blue Brown and White).
My daughter is addicted to the Lemonade, in fact she was having withdrawls after our 12/27 Glory cruise, luckily we found that the new Tropicana Lemonade in the 2 liter bottles is soooo very close in flavor, she's a happy camper now.
I believe the Iced Tea in the Dining Room maybe fresh Brewed, but I could be wrong. Either way it's pretty good.
Enjoy!

Iced tea is free. everywhere you go..In the diningroom they serve it by the glass... and on deck where the buffets are etc you get it from a machine as if you were at mcdonalds or something.

If it tastes anything like the stuff on the Inspiration (I think it is made from a concentrate), you'd be better off making your own sun tea or something. I have NEVER ever tasted anything so terrible! Sugar and lemon could not mask THAT taste, and it did not any better throughout the cruise... Ugh... I think it doubled as floor stripper....

I just got back from cruising the Miracle. I had iced tea every night with dinner and I thought it was excellent.
