This stinks!
I was donating blood at work and I blacked out.
I felt fine after and returned to my office. Then I collasped. I kept trying to get up and falling each time. Knowing know one find me in here , I made my way to the office across the hall. There was a nurse in the office to help me.I was scared and felt so stupid. I was rushed to th hospital I had a very low blood pressure and awful pain in my foot.
I work at a rehab hospital.I was told it`s workers comp.Ater they sent me to a clinic for follow up.
And was put on light duty. I was not 100 percent. I then was told it would not be covered under workers comp. After HR waived my job description in my face and told me if I can`t preform all my duties I need to go home. I don`t want to use all my vacation time.
So, I found a doctor to write me a note to go back to work.
I missed 3 days total.
Now, I got stuck with medical bills from this clinic they sent me to because the don`t take insurance.
I have not healed and It is getting worse. So now I must see an orthopedic dr.I am so dissapointed in this job Bummed out.

no good deed goes unpunished. That is some horrible turn of events. I hope the work issue can be resolved and your ankle gets better.

That's awful! I'm sorry that the insurance will not cover your mishap. I hope that your ankle heals soon.

Sorry to hear about your ankle. Try to keep it elevated as possible-even at work.

How awful for you. I hope your ankle gets better soon and you can resolve the other issues.

So sorry to hear this - - but I would be talking to everyone - - if you donated at work - - you should be covered.

Hope everything works out.

Oh no, I'm sorry this happened. Complications from a sprained ankle can be long lasting. I hope you find some competent help soon.

Plus, it's NO FUN dealing with worker comp, especially when they say one thing and it justly seems like it should be another. My daughter passes out every single time she gives blood. They finally told her not to donate any more. She hated that!

Well, as a former worker comp queen in CA, I would say you should be covered. It would be interesting to hear their reasoning...

I hate to bring it up but the same thing happened to me years ago and I contacted a personal injury lawyer one letter from him and wow I was put through on workers comp.

Oh my. I hope you are feeling better soon, and that all works out medically and financially. Please be assured of my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry about your injury.

I might add tho, I was on Workman's Comp when I broke my arm at work. They were excellent to me, and when it wouldn't heal, they sent me to one of the top arm surgeions in St Louis. Who operated and amputated my radial head. Any way, long story short, I received excellent care, prompt payments and a nice settlement when he determines I was permanently disabled in that arm.

Sometimes it all works out. Maybe you will have a good experience, too. You might have to have a lawyer contact them for you.

My goodness, that certainly was horrible to read and I am sure even more horrible for you to have to endure. =hugs

I too would contact a lawyer over this, no way should you have to pay. That is ridiculous.

:( I am so sorry Robin... Heal up well thoughts and prayers.. and as a nurse may I recommend a nice personal injury while in a work place lawyer??... not got one in my pocket but the Florida Labour Boards should be contacted and pressure put on.. it's BS for sure!!.and make sure you have a put in place coverage for any side effects such as arthritis, fracture, and any other contingencies as you age to be covered factored in...for future options as the body ages.... none of us are 22 anymore!!....=hugs Joanne

Oh man. What a horrible turn of events for trying to do a good deed. Hang in there and take care of that ankle. Don't ignore the pain if it gets worse be seen again. Healing for sprains can take some time.

Thank you all for your well wishes and good advice.
I went to the ortho yesterday and I also have a fracture. He gave me a boot to wear and it does help. I am at work.I guess the dr they sent me to was a quak in a box. Robin
