I am at work, so I can't try it but I will as soon as I get home. CJ, since you work for ALCOA, do you know if it is true :lol Anyway, I got this in an email:

a friend sent this to me and I sure did not know it. I never read the ends of the box. Duh!!!

Who ever looks at the end of your aluminum foil box? What a fantastic idea. Now, if someone would just make plastic wrap that didn't stick to itself.

I've been using aluminum foil for more years than I care to remember. Great stuff, but sometimes it can be a pain. You know, like when you are in the middle of doing something and you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time.

Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, "Press here to lock end". Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! I can't count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up.

I'm sharing this with my friends that did not know this

Thanks Denise, I just checked my aluminum foil and you are right! I didn't know that little secret either!

Ok, I have learned something new today, does that mean I don't have to go to work today? :D

I did not know this either. So of course I had to go and check it out :lol Sure enough they are there. Too funny. Thanks for the tip.

Just a heads up, I tried it on an open box of tin foil and the box fell apart.

Woo-hoo!!! Ok - my Reynolds wrap is now locked, on both ends. And just for kicks and giggles, I looked at my plastic wrap, which is a Kroger brand and it as well has a locking tab on both ends. And they are now locked. Life is good as we know it!! :lol

Thanks for the heads-up Nieciez. This is a good thing!!

Thanks for the handy tip, Denise!

I buy that GIANT huge roll of plastic wrap (commercial style) from Costco. It lasts forever, and it has it's own slider-cutter on the box. Works great! We just keep it on the counter, and use it every day.

I'm off to check out this 8th wonder of the world! :D ( I never knew this either! )

As Logcabin said.............Hey Suer what are YOU doing using this kind of clock room stuff'? I don't want to mention what we use it for, you may go into shock reading this post :D

Well, look at that! Years of the roll coming out of the box, and it turns out the solution has always been there. Shh, don't tell the guys, we're always teasing them about not reading the instructions...

My Reynolds Wrap doesn't say that. Neither does my European off brand stuff from the 99 cent Only store.
An old Reynolds Wrap fancy Christmas print has that on the end. I pressed both ends. Hurt my thumb. Got my glasses & gave it a closer look. I need my exacto knife to cut the little triangle on 2 sides since it isn't perforated, just dimpled, the dimpling doesn't even go through to the other side of the cardboard.

Of course Suer's box fell apart. Her mother packed it in the Hope Chest she got for her 16th birthday. That's "glory box" to you, Jill.

I never knew they did it either until I went into the test kitchen here and saw them using it. Of course, half the products they have, I didn't know about.

Here is another tip for those who cook with crock pots - slow cooker liners - they are a plastic bag that you line the cooker with, then throw away when you are done. I love those things and boy does it save on the clean up!

My hubby pointed that out to me. I never knew it was there either untill he showed me. Duh!

Well I'll be darn, I never knew about the tabs on the boxes either. Thanks Nieciez!

Cjbee, I'll have to check out the liners for the crock pot, Thanks.

this is a feature my cheap grocery store brand foil dosnt have. the foil is very nice quality tho.

Well I'll be darned...I (of course) had to go check this out..and there it was, on both ends even. I wondered why the (Reynolds) wax paper doesn't have it too but on further investigation, it has small tabs on the inside of the box that holds the roll. Thanks for the heads up....
