to send to someone who is going on this cruise but is not a poster (our friends parents)

They are wondering what to do while there.
They were looking at two different tours while we are going through the lock.
one was two hours long, and the other was 5 hours long.

I think I would love the 5 hour one, as you get to see all the workings, but as they are older, I suggested that they may want to do the 2 hour one instead, because of the extreme heat.

So please will you add your input into what tours you have done, or look interesting for the Gatun lock tours, and then the San Cristobal tours.
thanks.

It's not the heat ... It's the humidity. Seriously!

OK. Areas of intrest in Panama ... 1) the canal system itself (locks, construction, history etc.). Really pretty neat.2) the culture (the indiginous Cuna and Cherokee Indians), Spanish, French and American influence. 3) The transition into the independent Republic of Pamana (Scots/Columbia/French/US Canal Zone/Torrijos/Noriega/US Invasion/Independence). And, 4) the countryside ... absolutely beautiful!

meant the humidity :lol I remember watching Tobyn melt down there :grin

They just need info on things to try to book.
we did the ocean to ocean the last time we were there.. It was great, but I question how much they would get out of it, as you either spend hours in an air conditioned boat looking out the windows, or you go outside every so often into the heat.. humidity.. I wonder how they will handle trotting back and forth at their ages.

jeanie and Rick did a tour to see the natives, they said it was very good. hopefully she will see this and post.
So what tours have you done? and how long are they and how did you like it?

We're doing the 'Grand Tour of Panama". Understand that it will include a visit to one of the more primitive indian villages.... They're welcome to join us.
