Our Chip passed away last Thursday and I'm hurting sooooo much. We are leaving for a cruise in 3 days and my heart is not into it.

Chip was almost 14 1/2 years old. He was having many health problems and we felt there was no way we could kennel him for 11 days. I miss him. I swear I heard his nails click on the kitchen floor one night. I can't stop the tears from flowing as I think of him.

I hope he is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge when my time here is over. He was the greatest!

My heartfelt condolences, Tina. There are many @ddicts who have gone through what you're experiencing now. Handling such a loss differs from person to person. Some can move on fairly quickly, others - such as I - never forget and it takes a long time for the hurt to abate.

I'm sure my Topaz, as well as lots of other @ddicts' furbabies, were at Rainbow Bridge to welcome Chip.

Here's an article from today that you may find helpful and interesting:

Hi Tina,

To an extent, the hurt never goes away. The stronger the love, the more the pain. I wouldn't have it any other way. I walked Casey across the Rainbow Bridge last fall and I hope I never stop missing her.

WE love you and are always here to talk. You're in our prayers.

I had to have my favorite cat ever put to sleep in 2001. Just thinking about it makes me burst into tears 6 years later. But, Maxie and Scooter, and now Simon have helped so much!! You can never replace your baby, but I know you have enough love to share with another who needs a home, when you are ready. Hugs, cc

Anytime we lose a loved one eventually the hurt does because less and the memories become sweeter. Time will ease your pain. I"m sorry you have to go thru this.

Sorry to hear about your loss Tina....time will make it easier and I know he is there looking down on you...he will be waiting.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Sounds like you had some wonderful years with your dear pet.

I have hugs and prayers for you..it's been 5 months for me with our beloved Scooter.. and my heart is broken .. it's better.. but at Stephen's soccer games last week it was bittersweet..a ton of puppies there, and I ached to have my Scooter there with me as in days of old.. I can truthfully say I don't think I shall ever be over it in full.....I can swear I've woken up from naps having *felt* a 135 pound weight "next to my feet" on the bed.. as in all our years together..sigh..

take JOY in your memories..they do help.. and Chip will be at the Bridge for you.. have faith..=hugs..Joanne

Tina, how lucky you were to have Chip in your heart for his entire life! Fourteen years is such a long time to share with a dog. The wonderful times, the great memories, the good life, you two shared it all. The hurt will go away and you will be left with some of the best memories of your life. ((((Tina))))

Oh I am so sorry he passed. It's always a very difficult time when we lose a furbaby. Warm hugs to you.

Believe me, Tina, he will be waiting for you! The pain never totally goes away, but it gets easier. My fear has always been that one of my furry kids would cross the Rainbow Bridge while I was on vacation. Go on your cruise and know that he has lots of playmates where he is right now.

Oh Tina I've lost so many special babies. Samoyeds Tishy Lou, Sammy and Bucky. And since I have moved here my two adorable shih tzu girls Woobie and Pheobie. I don't know how long it takes because I still hurt when I think of my furbabies. I miss Woobie and Pheobe especially because they lived here and things remind me of them. It will get better but I don't think I can ever think of my babies without hurting.

Hugs to you I'm so sorry.

Tina,

We are very sorry for your loss. The pain gets easier to deal with as time goes on but you never forget, especially their certain special habits. We've lost 5 now and I remember each and every one of them.

Let's hope we will be together with them again later on.

Hi, so sorry to hear about your puppy. My dog shadow he's 14 yrs old, has trouble with his back legs, coughs alot, the vet gave us some pills to give to him each night, the vet says, shadow needs bypass surgery, but i dont have the money for that, shadow also has trouble lying down. I had to stop taking him for a walk back in feb, as he was limping from arthitis. He wants to go for a walk, but i cant take him anymore. dog is part chow and golden whoever. Dont want to, but maybe have to put him to sleep soon:(
