Any suggestions for a hotel in New Orleans? We will fly in on Friday, 4/22 and cruise on the Conquest on 4/24. We will have to get ourselves from the airport to the hotel & then to the port. Any ideas would be appreciated!

You have several choices, The French Quarter, The Central Business District, The Warehouse District, Convention Center or the airport.

A lot of people stay at the Maison St. Charles, some stay at the Hilton Riverside which overlooks the river and pier area with a mall attached.

I stayed in the CBD at The Drury Inn which is about 4 blocks from the FQ. The W is right next to Harrah's, and I think Doubletree is also.

Taxi's are easy to get anywhere you stay and it is a set price.

The hotels in the FQ tend to be older than the ones elsewhere. Check out www.tripadvisor.com to see what the reviews say about any you are interested in.

Hi! We are driving down to New Orleans in April and I was able to get a room at the Holiday Inn Express Airport for only $45 thru Priceline. Good Luck!

We paid $89 + tax for the Astor Crowne through easyclicktravel.com two weeks ago. The Astor was lovely. We had a room on the 14th floor and it was so nice and quite. A friend of ours, for the same time frame, paid $55 + tax for the Royal Orleans thru Priceline. She bid a 4 Star and put in $55 and got it...fantastic deal. Both are in the French Quarter. Also, for the Quarter check out The Prince Conti or the Place d' Armes.

Good luck!

I suggest you hurry and book something SOON!!! We have sailed from New Orleans X3, and if you wait too long, you are going to pay top $$ for any hotel! New Orleans is a busy convention area and books out fast!

Have done Pre cruise with Spring Hill Suite, Marriot Courtyard and Hilton Riverside. Best bang for your buck with Spring Hill, huge rooms...nice courtyard, Marriot was expensive but we booked it late, and Hilton was fine, but was quite a bit higher and we had multiple room problems but it was a snafoo, my in laws room was fine. Also it is nice to be attatched to the Riverwalk with the shopping mall, streetcar and Pier all attached!

HAVE FUN!! New Orleans is WONERFUL!

We were just on the Conquest last week. We had enough Hilton Honors Points to get the room for free at the Doubletree in Metairie. It was very nice, had a free airport shuttle and for 5 bucks would take you to the Doubletree in the French Quarter -- getting back at your own expense. We took a cab from the hotel to the pier, with tip was $ 25.

Hello. I got a chuckle out of the poster who said the hotels in New Orleans are old. Well, yes they are! New Orleans is a very, very old city and all the buildings in the French Quarter are very old, as well. LOL Most any hotel you choose in that area will be surprising different from any other city's hotels, mainly because of the 12 foot ceilings, 10 foot doors to balconies, and the Old World decor - heavy draperies, and antique furnishings. They are quite charming, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any hotel in the French Quarter. Most of the above suggestions are very good. Enjoy our city!

There are one or two bad hotels in the french quarter area, but 99% are very good. Just be careful of the no name brand hotels or check them out. We have had a few people on this board in the past year who had a very bad experience with one of these sleazy hotels. (remember I'm not talking about the (99%)

I would call the Hilton Riverside and inquire (and maybe be persistent) about their cruise special. Sometimes they will offer cruisers a $99 room for the night before the cruise and around $90 for parking for the week (if you were taking a car).

I don't know about the quarter house, but I would definitely check it out! That is also is an excellent price.

we sailed the sensation out of New Orleans in Feb. Stayed at the marriott on st charles street. Only 5 minute from the port. It was great. Go to www.marriott.com and type in new orelans. There are 3 marriotts in NO2 of them close to the port.

Last year spring break we stayed at the Holiday Inn downtown across from the convention center and directly across from where the ship docked. We could see itt's smoke stacks above the convention center when it arrived. It was $129 and the room was great and a great location. I didn't think much of their food, there are much better places to eat. You will LOVE the Conquest.Wait till it does that 180 degree turn mid stream to leave port right smack in front of the bridge. It is awesome. We had a ball Pat

We are staying at the Holiday Inn in the French Quarters. They have a cruise and park package. They'll keep your vehicle while you cruise
