Hi Jared. The Holiday happens to be my favorite Carnival ship. She's the oldest and smallest in Carnival's present fleet.......however, she's kept up beautifully, very clean, very friendly and helpful crew and staff. The food is wonderful. Don't miss the 24-hour pizzeria and ice cream/yogurt machines on Lido Deck!

There are lots of activiites for all ages, plus arcades, and also get-togethers for teens. There is a curving slide for the main pool, and there's another pool on the aft deck, as well as a kiddy pool.

I hope you and your family/friends will enjoy the Holiday as much as I do. I've sailed on her seven times, and have another cruise booked on her for this fall. And, in case you're interested, Carnival cabins are the largest of any line. Any specific questions, just ask.

I've sailed on her twice since she came to Mobile and enjoyed both cruises! The service and staff on the Holiday make this ship a great cruise experience. Be sure to get good directions to the pier as you can easily see the ship from I10 but I have noted a number of cars driving the wrong way on one way streets trying to navigate to the cruise terminal. Have a great cruise!

I don't know if Carnival still sells videos of its ships. I have one for the Holiday, when it was based in Los Angeles. The itinerary might be different, but the ship is the same. Call Carnival and see if they still sell the videos. I have one for the Holiday, the Elation, the Spirit, the Triumph and the Pride (oh wait, the Pride was made while I was on the ship).

Also, "smallest" is a relative term. It is still a big ship. If you drop it on your foot, it is going to hurt! A lot!!

I was on the Holiday back in 1999 I believe. It was not my favorite ship. The food and service was not that great and the rooms and ship were a little run down. We had quite a few plumbing/shower problems in our room and could not get it fixed. Perhaps this has changed. I still had a great time with my daughters and friends. Personally, I prefer the larger and newer ships, I just feel like there is more to do and see. But I do realize that for some they prefer the older, smaller ships. To each his own. But I would take an older, smaller ship any day if it meant I could cruise any time!! Keep in mind this was quite a few years back and it could be all of that has changed. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time!

Babushka - I've cruised on the Holiday 4 times since you were on her in 1999. She's been refurbished and in drydock three times since your cruise. So, YES, much better than what you described. I'll be on her again in October, after her next drydock.

SouthernLadyBlue,
That's great... sounds like you really enjoy cruising on the Holiday! I'm glad to hear that she's in better condition than when I was on it. Although, like I said, despite some not so great things we still had a great time.

SouthernLadyBlue,
I just sailed the Conquest (Loved it) and am booked to sail the Holiday in Feb 06. Am very interested on what you think after her drydock renovations. Will be looking forward to your trip report.

Jared,

My family and I will be on the Holiday with you. My husband and I were on the maiden voyage from Mobile last year and will be on the Holiday July 9th and October 24th so we must like it. It is a smaller ship, but that just means that you will not be as lost all the time. On any cruise there may be small problems just remember it is your vacation and it is what you make of it.

We are from Birmingham and we also are planning to go down on Friday. We did this last year and had a great time in Mobile the night before, we have friends there. Let me suggest the Blue Gill resturant, not a fancy place but I believe the food is good. We also stay at the Raddison and use their park and cruise package. This time we will not be getting into Mobile until late due to work arrangement of my son's girlfriend, but we will be there as soon as possilbe. I just hope the weather doesn't cause us problems.

Maybe we can meet up sometime onboard. Our ages are (50, 38, 18, 17).

Terri
