Gas prices up so now stealing gas begins

Well I went out to my car for the first time since Thursday. My gas tank is on the passenger side and it can't be viewed from the house. Well as I was brushing the snow off of the car I noticed the door to my gas compartment open. I had tanked up before I left on Thursday. Ok I have a locking gas cap so I chuckled that someone didn't get any gas from me.

I came home tonight and asked Mike if he has had any problems while I was gone. His compartment locks so they haven't gotten into his either.. But he did tell me the guy across the street has been having problems multiple times with gas being stolen from his tank. Mike suggested that he go out and buy a locking cap. They actually left his cap hanging down the side of the car this past week when it happened. I guess Mike noticed the cap and asked him if he was having problems just a few days ago.

Now I hate that locking gas cap and it is only there because my cap failed inspection and so I had to go to the closest auto supply, buy a new cap and go back through inspection. The only cap they had to fit my tank was a locking one so I got it but have hated it. This winter I have promised myself I was going to buy another regular cap as I stood out there freezing trying to get that key in the lock on the cap to get the cap off. Well I guess I won't be doing that anytime soon.

I swear I am going to rig a siren in my driveway with big motion detector spot lights. I'd love to catch the idots who feel it is OK to mess with what belongs to others. Now I have to call my brother and ask him just how I go about getting this rigged! LOL

Oh gees, yeah, higher prices will sure start this up again. The locking gas cap is a good idea. I hate too that people do things like this. Let us know if you get that motion detector siren hooked up. I like the idea of that!

I must be tired. I got to giggling thinking about this. I think that instead of a siren the theme song from COPS being blared would be great! Bad Boy Bad Boy whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when they come for you! =lolgang

After I filled up yesterday I wanted to steal some too. $3.17 a gal for the cheap stuff. It hurt!!

Our gas prices have jumped 20 cents in the last 3 weeks.

While at the mall a few weeks ago, someone got gas out of my tank. The newer cadillacs no longer have locked gas caps on them.

Have you considered notifying the police? Do you have a Neighborhood Watch set up?

Yes the police have been notified but they can't be here all of the time. And I think they are hitting us late at night. But the 20 something guy across the street got hit several times. Mike finally told him he needs to get a locking cap. They are pretty bold because this kid's car is parked right in front of his bedroom window. So they must be coming in the late night hours when people are sleeping. This weekend I'll walk around and warn people that this is happening and to keep their eyes and ears open.

Judy - you should have motion dector lights installed everywhere - - they aren't that expensive and work wonders. I have them and love them!

Also, here you can call the city and if there have been problems they will install a street light - - just make sure they don't install it by your window! lol.

I hate the way the prices jump. On the way home it was $2.95 a gal. This am it is $3.09 a gal. Now how can it raise that much overnight - - nothing changed that affected them that quick!
