Sail7Seas, I know you know the Maasdam very well. Have you ever been in S30? Wondering about the location and the air conditioning problem so many people mention. This is our first HAL cruise and we are looking forward to every minute. We are sailing with 3 other couples, all in suites! Thanks for your help, as always. Debbie...If you mean S 030...yes, I know that suite very well. We did back-to-backs on her in August and everything worked perfectly. Plumbing and air conditioning never failed us!

We are on the Jan. 5 cruise and can't wait! Glad you have had that suite and liked it. Seems some people weren't too happy with their Maasdam cruise but we are really easy and love the sound of everything we hear about HAL. Do you know if the dividers on the balcony between the suites can be opened at all? We are in side by side suites with 3 other couples and just wondered. Thanks for your help and we will take good care of your spot in Jan. Wish we could do back to backs like you did, but for now, hubby has to work!

Deb....LOL....My DH has to work also, but he has his own private practice and when he asks the boss if he can have vacation time....well, the boss is pretty good about saying "sure". Seeing as he is the boss...well...it works out great

Balcony dividers have doors which can be opened by your steward and while they cannot be removed, if they are opened, it will provide open access for you to pass back and forth.

Of course, the will impact your privacy in your suite as there are big windows which look out to the balcony....and unless you want your friends looking in, you'd have to pull the curtains and that would be a shame to block you beautiful ocean view.

But a group room service breakfast out there on a sea day would be close to Nirvana ....we love sitting at the very comfortable table and enjoying our breakfast. (it comfortably seats 4)

BTW...we have also been in Suite 028 recently so you can advise your friends in that cabin that the air conditioning in that cabin was fine, also.....and Suite 020, the same.

I truthfully have only read of two people who had serious complaints about their Maasdam cruise...always going to be a few! Have you been reading Stargazer's posts this week from the Maasdam....he's loving it....and I hope you will also.

Yes, I really look forward to stargazer's comments each day. Makes me daydream of my turn! Your reports help so much too. We were a little worried that the ship may be a let down after the mega ships at RCCL but we are looking forward to the refined elegance that we believe HAL offers. We will keep dreaming and thanks for all the positive feedback.

If you are looking for huge mega-ship......well, this is a whole different product.

This ship is half the size....that's ONE of the things we love about her.

You will need to adjust your expectation from frenetic running around to refined elegance and beauty with very personalized service. For folks who are able to cruise as much as many of us here do....it's great to be able to try all the different styles.

One time you might feel like you want rock climbing and ice skating....another time you may be more in the mood for beautiful flowers and art; a smaller ship with fewer pax and lots of space per person. Rarely any lines but still plenty to choose from for activities.

That is exactly what we are looking for. Peaceful relaxation. We've done the Voyager and Explorer and had a great time but never felt really relaxed because there was so much going on. We never even tried most of the things offered. While we would do RCCL again, we are looking forward to what HAL can offer.

Just wanted to say Debbie, that you absolutely will not be disappointed on any Dam ship. They are the very best. You will learn right away that there is something different about this cruiseline as you are met at the gangway by a crewmember who will personally escort you to your cabin. You might wonder if this service is only offerred to guests in the higher catagories, but no, this personalized attention applies to everyone. That is only the beginning; expect to be pampered as never before. While I am a cruise addict first, I am rapidly becoming a HAL addict.

You two are the best! It just feels like I am wishing my life away because I can't wait until Jan. and Christmas is in there too. Should be more excited about that. Since our last cruise in Jan. 2002, I have my strength...and my hair back. And I am trying to lose some of the weight I gained from the steroids they give you with the chemo but I don't care whether I lose it or not...I am going cruising. Last year, I went snorkeling completely bald! Just told everyone on the boat to get ready, they were all great. This time the cruise will be more sedate and elegant. Thanks again for all the incredible things on which to look forward.
