Hi!

I'm considering booking either the Carnival Fascination or the Majesty of the Seas for a romantic anniversary weekend getaway (5 years). We are in our 30's. We would like to go scuba diving one day and the other day explore Nassau to check out the Atlantis Resort. I know that RCC stops on a private island (Cococay) where you can do scuba diving, while Carnival stops 2 days in Nassau. How is that island?

Can somebody please help to select which cruise is more suited for my plans, interest and age?
How the Carnival Fascination compares to the Majesty of the Seas? Which one is nicer, have better food, the crowd is not too young or too old?

I will appreciate any suggestions!!! Thank You!

Well the Majesty of the Seas in a great ship that was built in 1992. It was the "mega" liner of the time, and is still a very impressive ship now. You are greeted by the Majesty through her 5 story Centrum, that is decorated with marble, brass, glass elevators, fountains, and plants. The cabins are somewhat small from the inside to the outside, but the suites are quite spacious. The Junior Suite, on Deck 10, is 270 sq. ft with a 50 sq. ft balcony. The suite has a nice sitting area, queen size bed, desk, TV, and a nice closet. The bathroom is well apointed, and has a tub/shower for your use. The outside stateroom on decks 4-6, is 122 sq. ft with no balcony. IT IS VERY SMALL!! Pretty much, there are two sofas that trun into beds, a small deck and closet, and a small bathroom. It does have a nice view though through a small window.

Otherwise, the dining room service in amazing, the public rooms are spacious, clean, and well maintained. The two pools are very nice, and are accompanied by live music, several bars, jacuzzis, and people serving you drinks. The mall is very nice, containing 6-7 shops. The Viking Crown lounge is great as well, giving you 360 degree views of the ship and the horizon. Oh yes, there is a rock wall and basket ball court onboard as well....really fun for all ages.
Service is amzing and the ship is very clean. I have been on her 6 times, and have never had a bad experience. She is great for a first time cruiser or a long time cruiser. If this is your first cruise on RCCL, then you will have a great time.

I do not know how Carnival's Fascination compares to the Majesty, but I am sure both are great. Good luck, and now that the Majesty is a great ship, and RCCL is a great cruise line!

Thank you very much for such a great response. I might book the Majesty then. I've been in Norweigan Cruise Line and Carnival before, but never RCCL. I should give it a try to see how it compares with the other lines.

Thank you again!!

The Majesty is ideal for a quick get-away (see my review of our May cruise in the reviews section for details). A day at CocoCay makes the whole cruise. Nassau is not that much of a destination (typically, we stay aboard, having seen it before), so a second day there is abosolutely no benefit at all. Kinda like the old jape, first prize is a week in Philadelphia, second prize is two weeks in Philadelphia...
I'd pick the Majesty hands down. The only thing that the Fascination has over the Majesty is the size of the cabins. However, on a short cruise, that is the least of my interests. I plan on being on the pool deck, or snorkeling at Coco Cay. Bring on the Coco Locos!
