Excursions

Rarely on cruises that we go on. As the planner in our house, I am so happy to go on group threads prior to my cruise and find another fellow cruiser wanting to fill a mini bus to places we both want to see… now that is a holiday for me! We’ve been very lucky to meet fabulous folk who have researched and booked well reputed companies who don’t require payment in advance which has spared us all the worry if ports change. I do a bit of research too as a double-check on the companies being used to reassure that going without the ship is low risk. Funniest tour incident… our planner told the guide definitely do not include a carpet factory in Turkey! Prepare to be hijacked to one!, kind of like those time share floggers. I think there is some kind of connection to get lunch (though a nice one) thrown in if the guide brings his group there. Prepare to say ”no thanks, I don’t want a carpet of any size” many times…lol It is an interesting experience.

The only time I use a ship excursion is when traveling without friends when we general tour together privately..... and in a Nrw port or one thats a bit sketchy and I like the promise of getting back to a ship that willwait for me. Just want to feel comfortable.
