We rented a car in Skagway and did the drive to Emerald Lake. A fabulous excursion for us. In Juneau we did a whale watch with Captain Larry. We also did a glacier trek/helicopter tour.In Ketchikan we kayaked and did a float plane excursion over the Misty Fjords.Our excursions were not ship sponsored and were booked well in advance. We did not try to cut costs and have memories to last a lifetime of our port stops in Alaska.Good luck to you in your planning.
