I am about to book a Carnival cruise and I see that Travelocity is running a deal where you get 1 year of free blockbuster video rentals if you book in the next few days.

So far, the travelocity prices are the same as everyone else’s prices (or even better).

Obviously I am seriously considering using travelocity.

Anyone have any experiences (good or bad) with using this company?

Anyone sign up with this blockbuster program? Any catches?

I used to work for them

They are owned by Sabre Corp so I would feel comfortable booking with them

I booked my last two cruises through Travelocity, and the service was good. Another thing to consider. I was going to use them again this year for my Triumph cruise on 4/30. I got their price and then got a past guest email from Carnival. When I called Carnival, they not only beat Travelocity's price they gave me a great free upgrade on a balcony cabin. So you might want to check first with Carnival before you decide. They seem to be getting pretty agressive with offers.

--- But travelocity will beat the price! I would look at travelocity then look and see if i can get a cheaper price. Then book with travelocity and tell them about the cheaper price. They will match it or beat it if you get extras (like upgrades).

If you have the time and patience you could save a LOT of money!

Just a follow up - i priced several websites and it turns out that Travelocity is one of the websites that engages in misleading advertaising. Travelocity was consistently $50 more than the cheapest prices that I could find. When you look on their website, it looks like their price is X but then when you call to finalize, there is some tax or gov't fee that they did not include and it costs an extra $50.

Bottom line, it wasn't worth the hassel of whatever might be involved with the free blockbuster stuff to be worth an extra $50.

I even mentioned travelocity's price match policy, but they kind of blew me off, and made it clear that it might be a hassel for that.

Hope that helps others.

We've never booked a cruise through Tavelocity, but have booked several airline tickets with no problems. Good luck. We're still searching for the best deals for our 2007 cruise.
