The "porthole" window is just the shape of the window, not the size.  It's huge.  You can sit in it if you wanted to and it does let in a lot of light as you will see from some photos that are in the link below.

That is a link to Bonnie's aft cabin photo album on Webshots.  She has a lot of different shots of the various aft cabins on Voyager Class Ships.  


Hope it helps.  I have never stayed in either of those aft cabins.  I've been in 1688 which would have been right above you and 7688 below you with the circle cutout on the side of the ship.


Ask all the questions that you want.  Half the fun of cruising is the anticipation. :lol
