Enchantment of the Seas

We are a group of 22 aged 3-75 and are looking to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary. We had decided on RCCL Enchantment of the Seas. Now my father-in-law is concerned that the ship is small and some may get seasick. I am looking for your personal experiences with this ship compared to larger ships and your actually feeling the "motion of the ocean". We will probably be cruising in late July or early August when there is potentional for tropical storms, so the seas may be a little rough. Thank you for your input and suggestions. Debbie

I have cruised on the Enchantment and had not a single problem, we where also a large group of about 35 and some where first time cruisers. We also sailed in July and the few new sailors had no problems the ship was as smooth a ride as any i have been on. I have also been on larger ships like the Disney Magic and Grand princess where i felt more movement then on the Enchantment. Have a great time any other questions let me know.

My wife and I sailed on the Enchantment last September and found it to be a very stable and seaworthy ship. It is large enough to have lots of things to do but still a managable size to get around the ship easily.

If you have members of your party who are particularly susceptible to motion sickness you might want to look into the pressure bands you can purchase as opposed to taking sea sickness pills which can make some people sleepy. We have been on 9 cruises and have noticed a number of people wearing them. Here are couple of sites that have them.

But unless someone already has exhibited motion sickness in a regular car or plane ride, I doubt you would need them aboard most newer cruise ships. They all have stabilizer systems that minimize the side to side roll and are big enough to minimize the up and down motion unless you happen to get unlucky enough to get into a storm and the bridge does everything it can to avoid really rough weather.

Enjoy your cruise.

Beautiful ship with a great crew. We have sailed the voyager class ships and still prefer the size of the Enchantment. Big enough but not too big. We went at the end of September and the felt no rocking at all. We were fortunate as the seas were very calm. I will tell you that if the seas are high no matter how large the ship it will rock. We did the Navigator last December and it rocked like crazy!

Great ship and wouldn't hesitate to do her again.

Am going on the Enchantment of the Seas next month. My sister in law is going with us and this will be her first cruise. I have sailed on Enchantment sister ships and they were wonderful. This going to be our 9th cruise.

Funny that one thinks of the Enchantment as small but as previously written, if it gets rough it wont matter what size ship you are on, they will all rock and roll.

Best suggestion is to book low cabins for the fearful. We have sailed on the Enchantment 8 times and 7 of them were on deck eight with little problems.

Good luck. :)

The Enchantment is far from being a small ship. While it is not a MEGA ship it is a large ship. We are going on the Nordic Empress and that is a smaller ship at 48,000 tons. Tell your father not to worry and if the seas are rough you will feel them less than I will on the Nordic. I am a bit confused as to why he feels that the Enchantment is a small ship? It is a large beautiful ship with plenty to do and see. the adult only solarium covered pool area is beautiful, among many other parts of the ship. We will be happily sailing on her in August 2004 with family.

EOS is only small compared to the monster Voyager class and similar. This ship is still bigger than most aircraft carriers (and twice the tonnage of the Titanic)! We've cruised EOS 4x and never felt any movement to speak of while at sea. 75,000 tons is a lot of ship. In fact, the only time we felt motion was tied to the dock in Costa Maya, the ship sits broadside to the incoming waves. We called the resultant not-so-graceful walk down the corridors the "Costa Maya Shuffle".

The Enchantment of the Seas is a very stable ship. We were in fairly rough water and it was fine! The crew was tremendous and we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise director, Matt Baker.

I have sailed the Enchantment ten times. This is a wonderful ship and she is not small. The ship is very pretty, the crew has continually been voted the best crew in the fleet and they are very friendly and helpful. You will enjoy this ship. I haven't sailed her since she went to the shorter Itinerary but everything I have heard is that she is still one everything I experienced so many times.

Enjoy!
