Thanks Mike for responding...
Yeah it was very frustrating with the going back and forth with our refunds like that. I have EVERY letter that we were issued...and will keep them for further reference if needed.
yes, they printed in a letter about the $100 per stateroom, then printed another letter without it when they decided not to go to Progreso.
Some people felt that if there was not a protest in the atrium, that we would have gone to Progreso anyway. They told us that bad weather and high winds prevented us from getting into the port...but honestly, that was the PRETTIEST day we'd had the whole trip!!! Winds were actually low and it was beautiful! The best day of the cruise! So some felt that maybe we could have gone to port, but the crew decided against it because they knew that SO MANY people would be SO MAD!!! And there would have been another protest!!!
Personally, I would have loved to go to a port - ANY PORT!!! I just wanted to walk in some white sand!!!! But I might have been less satisfied about the refund package they offered us. So, I don't know.
And beleive me, everyone tried to party hardy and all that...it was difficult at times though. You can only drink so much alcohol!! It was just the uncertainty about what was happening that made everyone so uneasy.
And your 12 day cruise, how many kids were on that ship?? I would have gone absolutely nuts! We couldn't even escape the kids! That's why we went! We even went to the "adult" tanning decks/pool and there were kids running and screaming everywhere. Not to mention almost the majority of the people in the discoes at night were all under 18!!!! and drinking! That got old too. everyone that would come into the door, we would all point and say..."too young, too young, too young, well maybe, too young, too young..." That was how we amused ourselves! Like I said, you can only drink so much!!!
Anyway, people should not try to make light of a situation like this, some people spend $10000 on trips like this and a 50% refund would not cut it for me if that was the case! If you weren't there, you should not pass judgement on the people that were. Beleive me, morale was very low. It was hard, but we did the best we could. It sucks being that this was our first cruise (as well as many other people we met) and this is our first impression. Its hard when you feel like they are trying to pull the wool over your eyes...nobody likes the feeling of thinking that they are being screwed.
Oh - and gourmet food? I thought the food was pretty mediocre. I mean it wasn't bad, but people always say the food is just spectacular, so I guess I was expecting more. Mostly fast food type of stuff, and a lot of waiting in line. I think we waited in line at least 20 hours the whole time!!!! We got served in the dining rooms, but still morale was low with the crew. They did the best they could though, I think. Those poor people work for nothing too!!
Anyway, wonder what's going on with the 3/12 ecstasy cruise...??? No headlines today yet...
