Do All Or Most of Holland's Ships Basically Have The Same Food In The Dinning Room And The Lido??

We were on the Veendam and after two nights in the dinning room we happen to notice that the menu for the Lido was the same as the dinning room. The only difference was on the formal nights their was one item difference. Now I don't mind this, in fact I think it is great. Once we found out about the menus, we ate in the Lido every night. Just wondered if this was normal for all or most of Holland ships.

Lobster and escargot on the Lido? I guess that could be as I usually have dinner in the Lido Restaurant only once on a 7 day cruise. Last week on the Veendam we had dinner there on Wednesday and the menu consisted mainly of BBQ ribs, grilled steaks, salad bar, etc. I did check the dinner menu for the main dining room on that day and it did not resemble at all what was being served on Lido.

I was on the Veendam Nov 12-19 and from Wednesday on the menus were the same except for the lobster. Now if you eat on the crew side of the Lido it might be different, but on the other side is is white tablecloths and sliverware. Not a buffet, give them the order and they bring it to your table.

We went to the Lido for dinner one evening and got in line. It was a buffet and they told us this side was for the crew. The other side was for passengers. We went to the other side and as I said earlier, it was not a buffet. You ordered as you went down the line, went to a table with white tablecloth and they brought what you ordered. This was Nov 12-19 cruise on the Veendam.

Lido dinner.

One side is for the officers and staff - not crew members like cabin stewards, etc.

On our last cruises on the Ryndam in November, things were a little different in the Lido for dinner. EVERYTHING was buffet. The only item brought to your table was drinks. And they offered a couple of things like chicken tenders for the children. Don't know if they are going to do this on all ships.

We will be curious to see if the Lido dining on the Amsterdam for dinner will be like what we have seen on all our other cruises. Almost the same menu and the main entree served to you. We have never eaten dinner but always do make a point to walk through and check out things.
