I live only 3 hrs from NOLA and go there frequently with my family...  You can never tell what the weather will be like.. could be cold and yucky or warm enough to wear shorts... check out www.weather.com or another weather web site a couple days before you go.. I would bring a jacket anyway because it could be warm enough for shorts when you leave NOLA, but when you return it could be freeeezin.. just can not ever tell...
