What a great time we had at the crab fest at our house today. We were joined by old friends and new. Friends we've had for over 30 years, and new friends we met today.

We started with 30 lbs of crab

And DH spent hours this morning cracking it and cleaning it. He ended up making a dozen crab cakes just to have something different on the table!

The table was set and just awaited the diners.

And Kitten was keeping it warm! Shoo!!!

It was such fun to share with our friends

There was so much crab left over we were able to send each diner home with enough for leftovers for later! Sad to see a fun afternoon end, but it was nice to get the leaves out of the table and the dining room back to order.

Sorry you weren't in the picture, Bruce. You were sacked out after eating all the crab you could crack. We didn't mind!

Wow, what a great feast! Do those crab come from somewhere local?

I can only imagine what they would cost around here, and they would be frozen :(

You are a great hostess, Glo!

The crabs came from COSTCO. I bought a case and got a case discount, so the price went from $5.99/lb to $4.68/lb. There were 16 crabs in the box.

They were frozen. We don't have any local crabs around here since the oil spill, because even though the ban on fishing was lifted, the crabbers decided it would be more profitable to sue than crab.

But they were delicious. From Washington state.

Okay, Glo, so I can get those at my Costco here. I've seen them but never tried it.

So did you just steam them?

Nope, by the case, they were cooked and flash-frozen. When you buy them individually they are already cooked, thawed and ready to eat!
