We will be sailing on the Miracle in Sept and I am starting all my research. Starting with hotels by the Port. Any suggestions would be welcome. Looking for the following.

1. Reasonably priced (how much and where did you find the rate)
2. A hotel that you would gladly stay at again (also any heads up on hotel nightmares)
3. Looking for a hotel with good size pool (outside bar and entertainment would be great)
4. Close to the Port (give how far)
5. Do they offer shuttles to the Port
6. Hotel near rental car agency (which one)
7. Things to do nearby (shopping, dining, entertainment)

I can't think of anything else, but if you do, please feel free to add.

Thanks
George

www.biddingfortravel.com you can get hotels very cheaply using priceline. THat web page will show you how.

we are staying at the amerisuites westshore for 99.00 a night- they offer free pick up from the airport and free shuttle service to the port the next day. They also offer breakfast - a hot buffet.

so--figure we would spend 50 bucks for priceline and 20 cab fare to the hotel and to the pier PLUS breakfast we are just about even

I'd love to find a hotel in Tampa that will allow me to park free during my 7 day cruise in November; similar to Amerisuites in Fort Lauderdale which does have this perk.

Our group sailing on Miracle Feb 13 are staying at Hilton-Westshore. We used Priceline & got our rooms for $45. Regular rates are around $99 and I think they offer a parking package. I will try & remember to post more info when I return.

I will be finding out soon. Like next week. Hotel info says free shuttle to & from airport but not the pier. Hotel is supposed to be close to International Mall and just a short cab ride to the ship.
Will let you know when I return.

I asked the same question several weeks ago and got this helpful information from mbrandy who is a ta that once lived in Tampa. I found it helpful and thought you might.

Here are the closest hotels to the port.

The address of the port is 651 Channelside Dr, Tampa, FL, 33602

Marriott Tampa Waterside Hotel and Marina 0.45 mi from port

Wyndham Harbour Island 0.57 mi from port

Hyatt Regency Tampa - Downtown 0.67 mi from port

Radisson Riverwalk Hotel Tampa 0.75 mi from port

Downtown is anywhere from 1/2 mile to 1 1/2 miles from the port. Tampa International Airport is about 4 miles from the port. Downtown and port area hotels are more expensive..cheaper hotels in the Westshore and Airport areas.

Hope this helps....

I'm also doing research sailing 2/26/2006 - I plan to extend the stay for a few Spring Training games.
GO PHILLIES

We have stayed at Chase Suites pre and post cruise. It is out on Rocky Point. It is nice. Bahama Breeze is next door. Breakfast is included and there is a little store right next door. It is similiar to townhouses. Free shuttle to and from airport....
I got it on Hotwire.

This time I tried Priceline and got La Quinta Airport. We are flying in late pre cruise. I think this will be fine for the price with breakfast and airport shuttle included.
