Coco Cay question.

I never been to Coco Cay.
Do You eat the lunch onboard the ship or on the island like in Labadee.
I'm not cruising until October, mayby by that time RCI stops again in Labadee.
For those who has been to Coco Cay and Labadee which one did You like more?
I've been to Labadee 3 times and I think that's a great place, let's hope that we can go there again soon as possible.
But of course it would be nice to see how Coco Cay is.

Coco Cay is absolutely beautiful. Lots of water sports, lots of hammocks and lounges.

They set up a huge barbeque/buffet. We've never been overly impressed with the lunch, but it's okay. Tenders go back and forth to the ship all day if you get tired of the island or want to have lunch on board and then maybe come back.

I've heard it's nicer than labadee, but I've never been there myself.

Have fun - October should be a beautiful time to go. Be sure and have a Coco-Loco.

I actually prefer CoCo Cay to Labadee. Just watch out for the jelly fish in the water. They have a lot of them. :)

where are the great numbers of hammocks at Cococay? when we visited there on the Majesty of the Seas, we found around 10 hammocks for the over 1000 passengers

I found CocoCay to be okay, but no where near as beautiful as Princess Cays. :)

I have not yet been to Labadee. Maybe this August if it is cleared by then.

Hucc they have put in a lot more hammocks than they used to have, they are by Coconut Willies (which is now a snorkel gear hut), when you get off the tender you go right and just keep walking until you find them. Last time we were there we were surprised how many they had added. I am with Ali and my husband agrees, we like CocoCay better than Labadee. They do provide a BBQ lunch on the island or you can go back and eat on the ship if you want.

Hucc,
Last time we went they even had empty hammocks believe it or not, the ones farther down. I guess people walked as far as they were going to :lol that didn't stop some lady from trying to take over my husbands hammock while he went to the restroom. I was laying down with my eyes closed and I heard stuff being thrown to the ground, when I got up all my husbands stuff was laying in the sand. I asked her what she was doing and she said there is no saving allowed! I explained it wasn't being saved it was being used and to basically get her stuff off the hammock, and to go use one of the many empty ones. She said she liked this one and I assured her she wouldn't like my husband :lol she moved.

I'm glad that you asked about Coco-Cay Christoffer, I too was curious!
We have been to Labadee before and really liked it alot. So glad that Coco-Cay got good reviews.

Hucc, Princess Cay, and Half Moon Cay are very beautiful.

Hucc,
I have also been to Princess Cays and I think it is nicer than Labadee and Coco Cay also. Now we need to check out Half Moon Cay and see what it is like.

Ali,
I was wondering if RCI was going to go into shock about your HAL cruise :lol It sounds like you will have great company on your Jan. quacker cruise though :thumb
I sure hope RCI's stock doesn't take a dive since you are cruising on HAL :lolgang

Hucc,
Sure you can cruise to Half Moon Cay with us, but you have to pay :lol

I was in Labadee last May, on the Explorer, and it was gorgeous. The setting is different from Coco Cay. Labadee has the dragon rock lookout (i think that is what is was called) that makes lots of funny noise from the ocean water coming through. Plus, they have a look out that makes a fabulous photo opportunity with the ship in the background. This is not a totally private island, just a penninsula, and has a big fence to block it off from Haiti. Sure hope things get settled so RC can start stopping there again. It was fabulous.

Coco Cay is totally a private island for RC guests only. We were just there in March from the Majesty. There are plenty of hammocks and chairs way down the other side of the island, but people have to "WALK" to get to them. I think it is so funny when I read the reviews that talk about "being squeezed in like a can of sardines". and if they would only get up and walk a little (excellent for your health), the would see the beauty of the island and have total piece and quiet. It was amazing.

The barbeque luncheon is about exactly the same at both places, and the warm food may get cold, but think about a barbeque in your own backyard, or on a private island in the caribbean. Now . . . . . . . . which would you prefer? ? ?

Just joking, this is for fun!
Hope everyone has a wonderful cruise!

We went to Coco Cays a couple of weeks ago. The water was beautiful, but it was very, very windy. My husband and I tried to snorkel, but the water was very rough. The lunch was bad compared to what you got on the ship. We also rented a waverunner and the guide took us out past the ship where there was 3-4 foot swells. We came back in and then he took us out there again after we complained. It was awful and everyone was getting beat up by the waves. The guide was driving at top speed and everyone was expected to keep up with him. We heard that other tours took the waverunners around the other island and in the coves where it was pleasant. We complained later that night with guest services, but heard nothing back. I guess you can say, we did not have a positive experience at Coco Cays.

Linda,
The part that is crowded is straight ahead when you get off the tender. Most people don't want to (or don't know about)walk a bit farther on to the right and enjoy the uncrowded section with lots of hammocks and lounge chairs. So part is crowded and part is not, just look at the map of CocoCay and go towards the right after you get off the tender and they have a volley ball net, a snorkel gear shack, and plenty of beach and beautiful water to swim in.They have waiters come around to serve drinks etc, it is a very nice island.
