Carnival Paradise

We are booked on back to back on the Paradise starting August 31. I have been searching several boards looking for reviews and information. It appears the reviews are short or do not cover a lot of information about the ship but focus more on the ports. I would appreciate any information you may have on the ship itself. Good or bad please let me know something about the public areas on the Paradise.

I do also appreciate information about the ships that you may have considered odd or different from other ships you may have been on.

The Paradise is very different from the other two Fantasy Class ships upon which I have sailed (Ecstasy & Inspiration). Of course the biggest difference is the non smoking atmosphere aboard, however it certainly doesn't end there. The main atrium lobby contains a bar and a bandstand upon which live music (usually classical) is played periodically during the day. The ship attracts a more mature crowd, probably due to the no smoking policy. I found the food and entertainment on board to be excellent. The decor is somewhat toned down from her sister ships also. The Paradise ranks among the highest in customer satisfaction of all of the ships in the Carnival fleet.

Hi, PEB:

I've posted two fairly detailed reviewed of our Paradise cruises, but, as you mention, I probably didn't cover a great deal about the ship itself. But, if you have specific questions, I'll be glad to answer them if you'll email me.

The Queen Mary's Lounge is always cold. That's where they have the art auctions. And, on the last cruise, we danced there almost every night after dinner.

The Leonardo Lounge is intimate and has karaoke once in a while.

We enjoy the US Bar on the Promenade Deck for two reasons. You can really relax there with a drink watching the waves go by. And, sushi is served near there. The casino is also right there, but we don't do that.

Some people love the Piano Bar ... we could take that or leave it!

We've been in both dining rooms, and both are lovely!

Happy cruising,

Judy

We recently sailed on the Paradise for the 2nd time (first time was in 1999). The ship is still in very good shape. The production shows were terrific. Other shows were a few different comedians who also put on midnight adults only shows. The ship was freezing cold everywhere (same as on our previous sailing on her). I had to constantly put on a sweater or had to go outside to warm up. The pizza is the best I've ever had on a cruise and so was the hamburger at the pool grill and the omelet at breakfast in the buffet on Lido deck. However, the rest of the food (lunch at buffet) and dinner in the dining room was better some days than others. Nothing to rave about, but the lobster tail was good and not overcooked. It is the luck of the draw (like on any ship) as to whether you have a good waiter and assistant in the dining room. Same with your cabin steward. Our waiter was very slow, and we were always the last ones to leave the dining room. Our cabin steward was excellent. The staff and crew were all very friendly and helpful. The passenger age group is mixed - definitely NOT MORE older people. We sailed March 30th and didn't think there would be many kids at that time. WRONG! There were tons of kids of all ages running wild all over the ship and up and down the halls. We did have a very good time, as we always do on our cruises. We would definitely sail on the Paradise again. The smoke-free atmosphere is wonderful. Enjoy your vacation on a terrific ship.

I have read a few comments about some public rooms being cold on the Paradise. Unlike most people that is just what I like. I love the cold and hate the heat so sounds like the Paradise will serve me well.

I greatly appreciate all the comments.

We are going back-to-back on the Paradise for the 5/11 and 5/18 sailings. I will write a review when we return, including how the back-to-back works on May 18th, the day in the middle of the two cruises. We fly to Miami early on May 9th, just two days away!!

HINT: Time moved so slowly waiting for this vacation, but the last couple of days have flown by so fast that my head is spinning. Packing and last minute details sneak up on you.

See Ya!!

Very clean, moderately glitzy, excellent service (friendliest people I've seen), food was excellent all over, they have a free suchi bar, the bar and classical music in the atrium are great, shows were good. Only drawback is the Fantasy class doesn't have many balconies. We had great time and loved the ship. Can't wait to sail her again. Have a wonderful time.

I do appreciate all the comments. It does sound, so far, that we will enjoy the Paradise.

PeggySand I do look forward to hearing about the process they used between your two sailings. We did back to back on the Victory in Jan and they had just changed the process and it did not go smoothly at that time. I am hoping things have worked out better by now.

We loved the ship when we went on it 2001. we do agree though that is was very very well air conditioned....... Our room was really bad for two days unti they could fix it. The room next to us was hot and ours was way to cold.

Hello, I am a newbie to this site, but I thought this would be an appropriate place to ask this question. I sailed on the Paradise a couple years ago, and was very impressed with how clean it was and how laid back the other passengers seemed to be (carnival has that party boat rep). I am going on the Sensation in Sept, should I expect more of a party crowd on that ship, being that it is not smoke free? (not much of a partier myself, and can't stand drunk crowds!)
