I didn't get any motion sickness while using the ear plugs, but I've never experienced any sort of motion sickness on a ship.  So, I might not be the best person to talk to about this...sorry!  I do recommend visiting a pharmacy beforehand and purchasing some ear plugs...the ones you get onboard are cheap foam ones and, while they do the trick, they're not the most comfortable.  I have some that I bought at a local pharmacy here, and they're made of a nicer foam that conforms to your ear a little better.   And, they were only about $4 for 5 pair.


I have heard that it's best to start taking the Bonine about 24 hours prior to boarding so that it has time to get into your system....just in case you haven't heard that tip yet.  :)  I've also heard that Bonine can make you drowsy, so be prepared for that.
