Hi, Cherie~Enjoyed reviewing some of your photos and tour diaries.
We are going on Brilliance (my husband and I and two teen daughters) this August. Do you have
any recommendations and names or e-mail addresses of any good private tour guides you may have
taken in Villefranches or Livorno? From what I have read, Villefranches itself is a quaint port so I am thinking of enjoying that and taking a 4 or 5 hour tour of St. Paul de Vence or Eze and perhaps Cannes.
(???). I have been to Florence before and I suspect is very hot and crowded in August, so I was thinking
of getting a private tour of the Tuscan countryside, including Pisa and Lucca. What do you think?
Your diary of Rome also confirmed my thinking that maybe we ought to do something different. We all were in Rome for four days in August 2000 before our first family cruise on Grandeur of the Seas (7 day)
so as much my husband would like to go back for old time sake, I am thinking maybe we can go to
Osta Antica or some other smaller place or just do one thing in Rome. Perhaps you have some candid
reactions to any of these, being that you were only in these places last summer in the hot weather and/or
probably heard a lot of feedback from shipmates. Our objective on this cruise is to see what we really want to, but
not to the extent that we are rushing or being repetitive... as you said somewhere in your diary, at a certain point you can see too many churches, for example. I like to spend some time drinking wine or
an espresso in a little scenic cafe, talking with someone, and "smelling the roses."
