Booking your next cruise while still on your current one...

I notice they have a captain's circle office on most Princess ships, where people can book their next cruise while still on the current one. Is there actually any benefit to doing this, or is it just clever marketing to reel you in while your guard is down?

If they're offering superb deals that you can't get elsewhere we may consider it, but otherwise I'd rather wait and see what offers come up later in the year.

We have used them in the past. But we have already done our homework, and know what the going rate is for the cruise (s) that we are interested in.
Sometimes they throw in perks to sweeten the pot. sometimes we do it to nail down the specific cabin that we like. Not all cabins are created equal lol

We then get the booking transferred over to our TA. You do not have to leave it with the cruise line.

and remember, that you can always cancel before final payment. so if you change your mind or find something better, you are not stuck.

Often you can just buy "future cruise credits" Your down payments are less, and you do not have to specify a particular cruise right then. they do have a time limit on when you have to use this credit, but it is usually at least a year.

These days we are all seeing a lot of changes within the cruising industry, so next time you are cruising, go by and talk to them . You may find something that suits your requirements.

Generally there are 2 items that are of benefit of booking while on board. 1. is a reduced deposit. 2. is additional on board credit for the future cruise. For some this can be significant but others it may not be.
