Our cat, Miss Bella is strictly an indoor cat, though from time to time she has other ideas about that and manages to “escapeâ€Â. Yesterday with the windows and doors open all day was one of those times. Not sure how or when but I realized she was “gone†as I was getting ready for bed. She is usually pretty good about coming back when you call her, but, not last night when I called at 9:00. Leatherneck is working from home today so he stayed up late watching TV and when he came to bed, he tried calling again. This time he could hear her answering his call but he couldn’t figure out exactly from where in the dark woods. When I got up at 3:50 I called again and I could here her too but couldn’t stumble around in the dark looking either and had to get ready for work. Her answering meow didn’t sound like she was hurt or anything serious. The general area has some thick wooded areas so we had to wait till this morning’s light to actually go “lookingâ€Â. So, Leatherneck went out about 5:30 searching….come to find out she managed to get on a neighbor’s screen porch…the porch screen is ripped out. It seems they have some sort of humane trap set up on the porch (I have no idea why) and she tripped the trap and was caught inside (not hurt). The neighbors are a nice young couple who are getting married this weekend and they weren’t home, so we couldn’t find out why they had the trap set but I am thinking they may be having a problem with raccoons =huh. So, Bella has had a good breakfast and she is now sleeping in her kitty bed….happy to be home.

Here is a picture of the wayward girl.

Poor Baby, I bet she is glad to be home.
Nieciez Bella look's just like my cat, Pretty Pretty Kitty Kitty!!!! My cat is a mix of Calico & Tabby domestic shorthair. She is just a year old & only weigh's 7# & is very talkative, alway's meowing.

Bella is between 2 and 2 1/2. We got her from a rescue organization when she was about a year old...she had already had a litter of kittens and was found as a stray and skin and bones. The rescue got her back to health and then offered her out. She is very petite and only about 7 pounds too.

HMM.. she may not venture out so far and on the prowl next time, =hug she is home safe and sound....:)..Joanne

What an adventure! I love the name Bella. My 6-year-old niece just got and new kitten & I suggested she name it Bella, but she wouldn't go for it. Her older sister named a stray Pretty Kitty, & my parents decided to adopt it found out it was a male when they took it to the Vet(very fluffy cat and they took it to the Vet before they took it in) So when the vet asked my dad what HIS name was my dad said PK!=COOL

What a pretty cat.

I am glad that she is OK. but I would not take any bets on her staying home if she gets another opportunity :grin

I agree....she maybe good for a couple days but she'll try again the first chance she gets. I just have to make sure she doesn't lossen any of the screens and that the screen door stays latched on the screen porch....she can manage to push it open if it isn't. If she would only be happy just sitting on the screen porch life would be much safer for her.

Denise I'm so glad Bella is OK. We too have a cat rescued after having a litter of kittens - and was the same age, and skin and bones when we got her. We've had her 3 years now and she's an inside cat. She got out once on us at our previous house, and I was heartsick. I was so sure she was going to get hit by a car.

It was pouring rain and my husband and I went out looking for her, at 11 pm at night when we realized she was not inside. We found her on the neighbour's porch. She had the right idea, just one house over! I was so relieved.

Now hubby walks her on a leash - I resisted, didn't want her to get a taste of outside. But she loves going for her walks, and it causes quite a stir when they see this big construction worker walking a little kitty on a leash! She knows the route they go now, and asks to go out every night for her walk.

Hubby left the door of the motorhome open the other day for a minute, and guess who got out? She was walking along her "route" slowly, pretty as you please. Hubby walked behind her to see where she was going, while he talked to her. She went to the spot they usually turn around, and just sat there waiting for him. So now I'm not as worried about her, still don't want her out loose though.

I love the name Bella - and she looks almost just like our Sadie. A little lighter colour but very similar.

Awww Terry, sounds like you have a smart kitty! What a cute story. I named Bella from the play Cats (for Grizabella) We had just seen the play right before we got her. I'd love to get a male Tuxedo and name him Bustopher Jones.
