I don't know about Ad. of the Seas, but we have been on Voyager twice and they have cement on the lower half of the balcony. We had been on Carnival prior to our lst RCL cruise in 9/04 and were kind of "put off" by the cement. Asked the experts here about it when we came back and I was told it was because of the structure of the ship. They had to have cement instead of plexiglass. We were on VOS a few weeks ago and knew before hand and expected that. You "get used to it" but it is oh so much better with the plexiglass imoo. I like to look at the wake of the ship on the sides, so I always had to get up and look over the rail. Tough job! I figured it was my exercise for the day...earned me an extra donut at breakfast
