Balcony Rooms

I have been reading that some of the balconies on the RCI ships have steel either all the way up to the railing or half way up. Can anyone tell me what the balconies are like on Adventure of the Seas? We are in an E2 balcony cabin on deck 6......Your comments would be appreciated....

I don't know about Ad. of the Seas, but we have been on Voyager twice and they have cement on the lower half of the balcony. We had been on Carnival prior to our lst RCL cruise in 9/04 and were kind of "put off" by the cement. Asked the experts here about it when we came back and I was told it was because of the structure of the ship. They had to have cement instead of plexiglass. We were on VOS a few weeks ago and knew before hand and expected that. You "get used to it" but it is oh so much better with the plexiglass imoo. I like to look at the wake of the ship on the sides, so I always had to get up and look over the rail. Tough job! I figured it was my exercise for the day...earned me an extra donut at breakfast :)

The balconies on deck 6 of the Adventure are all steel below the railing. Deck 7 and above are 1/2 steel, 1/2 plexiglass.

There are five Voyager class ships.

Voyager, Adventurer and Explorer are designed with the balconies within the structure of the ship. Thus the reason for all the steel or other equally strong hard to see through material.

Navigator and Mariner are designed a little differently. All of the balconies are outside the structure of the ship. Thus no need for strong to see through material. Thus the balconies on these two ships are more open and have plexiglass on the railing.

There are some other differences between the ships. For example the Navigator and Mariner do not have a water slide. Instead each has a much bigger area for the teenagers.
