Baked Alaska

I don't know about other lines, but Princess has started phasing out their Baked Alaska parade. I mean, they still do it, but with fake Alaska desserts and a battery operated candle. I remember when they use to parade through the dining room, flaming and all. Each table was given its own dessert. I imagine the waste was immense and that's why they stopped it (along with the insurance risk).

Do you missed the Baked Alaska parade? Are you a fan of the dessert or would you prefer something else?

Yup spikesgirl, I remember that, on rcl they used to parade with the flaming cherries jubilee. Yes, miss the parade, an found that I now like creme brulee, it sure is tasty, yum!!! Also like escargot, or however you spell the word. Please don't take points off for mispelling the word.

Princess does a good job with ice cream. My husband especially looks forward to their Galliano ice cream

I would never take points off for misspelling escargot (and you spelt it perfectly). It's just not the same with fake cakes... Cherries Jubilee is a treat, though. I adore it, but my weakness are the dessert soufflés.

That could be a bit messy. The last time I saw it with the real McCoy was back in the late 90's. I know this is much safer, but it was so spectacular.

Really? It's a great treat, but we don't cruise that often that it becomes common place. It always makes me sad, though, as it's the last dinner on board.

Yes really it truly is nothing that interested me to even want to try it.

Ice cream over cake smothered in meringue and drizzled with chocolate? Always a hit at my table, whether we are cruising or at home (I make little individual ones when I serve it)

We had it last Summer aboard the Carnival Breeze and it was really good. I forgot how good it was. It was nice to see it come back. All the waiters did a parade, sang and more. It was our daughters 11th birthday and they brought her a whole one. So much fun.

It was always such a hoot and I do like giving the kitchen staff their do. They feed us so well.
