mickeyboy7, I am really crushed they are making a new Stadium.  There is just so much history in the old one.  When we had the loge seats we had an usher show us to our seats.  His name was Harry and he was probably about 80 yo, but always dusted our seats off, then tipped his cap and told us to have a nice game.  We would slip a few $'s in his hand.  We always went to every opening day game until the late 80's when my dad retired and the tix prices(if you could get them ) went thru the roof.  We were at the opening day game in '96 when the "dynasty" started and there was a snow storm!!!  The umpires were wearing red jackets!!  We had a huge crowd of family and friends here for the last game of the WS and I had a poster tacked on my fridge and everyone signed it.  I put on the top: it all started in a snow storm! We know Willy Randolph and Roy White personally and Yogi's grandson worked on the beach at the Jersey shore for my dad for years.  Do U have that book "Yogiisms?"  Dad gave that to us and Yogi signed it to us.  One year our DS was a newborn on opening day, so I didn't go and DH bought a bib and had access to the players something or other and they all signed it. Chris Chambliss...I have it in a frame.  Times have changed. And as much as I LOVE the Yankees, the $$ they make is ridiculous and I am so sick of all this steroid stuff.  And I never thought of them as "heros" either.  We lost some friends and neighbors and PATH cop friends on 9/11.  Those are heroes...I was crushed when they let Torre go too.  Thought Mattingly was going to take over.  Not sure about Girardi...I DO really appreciate Steinbrenner's law about beards/long hair.  NYY players look respectable...well, here's hoping the OP is not a BoSox fan :lol
