I played hooky and went to see Cole Porter's Anything Goes at the Arizona Broadway Theatre in Peoria (Phoenix metro area).

The show was terrific and the dancing was phenomenal. The fact that the show has a nautical theme and two of the characters are Yalies (as was Cole Porter) just added to my enjoyment. And a cute little Papillon is part of the cast. :)

If any @ddicts are visiting here between now and November 15th, I HIGHLY recommend the show.

Sounds like you had a wonderful day today. I didn't know that Cole Porter went to Yale. Had no idea. I am glad that you enjoy the dancing and singing, and also glad that you played hooky...everyone needs to now and then. :boogie:

SunFlower will be out there next week (10th through the 19th). I'll let her know ....

Yes. it'll be just Cody and I. Nine days of single bliss. The both of us eating chili dogs and drinking root beer ...... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Corky - Cole Porter indeed was a Yalie. Simply google his name - there's lots of information. Bull-dog! Bull-dog! Bow, wow, wow, Eli Yale! was written by him.

Calgon - I'm certain SunFlower would enjoy the show (matinees Saturday and Sunday, evening performances throughout the week). It's a dinner theatre - food (lunch or dinner) is excellent.

I hope she'll at least give me a call while she's out here!

Is Dr. Pucci a Yalie?

Mary ann this sounds like a wonderful day out. I love going to dinner or luncheon theaters. My first adult long dress was especially for a dinner theater. A dear friend now deceased could talk Paw into anything so we dressed up and went to theater in KC. Was eonderful. I often think of this friend how she would have loved to cruise and do all the activities. She would have fit in so well with Ducks.

She better. Good chance she may even take DiL, GD1 (NewMoon) and GD2 to the show. I'll suggest it to her... Do you know if they have reduced prices for kidlets?

I like your new "designation"!

I'll have the $$ info for you in about an hour. I know kids 13 and under are served from a children's menu and junior adults (14-18) are served from the adults menu. They recommend no kids under 6 because if they start to fuss, they need to leave.

@ll - yes, it was a wonderful day out. I don't take many such breaks, The theatre is masterfully laid out (not a bad table anywhere), and I've yet to see a sub-par show. They have top-notch, very talented performers. The food is excellent as well, with polite, friendly servers.

Charles - Dr. Pucci's mom is a Yalie (grad school and faculty). Yale undergrad transitioned to coed while I was there. I did tutor the Yale professor with whom "Handsome Dan" - the Yale Bulldog mascot - lived. The dog would walk into the office, greet me, then go lie down and fall asleep, snoring LOUDLY!

All things considered, the desert is the desert....although a little warmer in Phoenix than Vegas.

I do miss Phoenix though. The theatre, the symphony, the museums. Miss my D-Backs & Suns too. My boys always liked the Hall of Flame fire department museum. We just don't have those things here. The best museum here is the Liberace. Just doesn't compare to the Heard Museum or the Science Center. But we do have a few hundred Elvis (or is it Elvi).

Glad you enjoyed the show Mary Ann. :)

Michael - thank you. The number and variety of events offered here are amazing when you consider we're an oasis in the Sonoran desert. BTW, I notice you left off the Cardinals and Coyotes...and, oh yes, the Mercury and Rattlers! :)

The ABT is a gem for those who enjoy dinner theatre with excellent shows and great food.

Calgon and SunFlower - the ticket costs (show and meal) vary according to night of the week or matinee; location in the theatre (center, off-center, side); adult, junior adult, those 13 and under... If she's interested, I suggest SunFlower call the ticket office.

Jacquie - Melinda (the lady who watches Pucci when I travel) puppy-sat while I attended the show. Only performing canines would be allowed there, but I did get to scritch little Mimi, the Papillon, after the show. Pucci was too busy romping with his playmates at Melinda's house to notice I had scritched another pooch! :)

My son Joe played Moonface Martin in a high school production of Anything Goes. About 15 years later he played the same part with an adult cast.
