and how to run it?

we always used to designate someone to pick first. Then the person whos bag they picked went next..and so on.
But when there are small groups, this is not working...
we sometimes end up with people left with their own bags.

So the last time I had the bright idea that if Einstein and I did not pick until last.. in other words.. if someone picked our bag, instead of us then picking one.. we would designate someone else to go in our place...

I thought this was foolproof.. until that last cruise where we started to smile as it became apparent that our bags were the ones left!

We do not want this long drawn out, but we do want people to get to pick someone elses bag, and not end up with the one they brought.

Any Ideas on how to make this work???
 
Everyone put their names in a hat then will get to pull out a name....if you pull out your own or your spouse/partner's name, put it back and pull another. If the last person pulls their own or partner's name then the first person to pick a name from the hat should switch with the last person (as long as it isn't their or their spouse's name), if that doesn't work, go to #2 or on down the line till everyone has a name other then their own or their spouse/partner. We don't "exchange" the gifts until we get the names sorted. THEN when that is done everyone exchange gifts...if I picked Jane Doe's name I get the gift that Jane brought...etc. Does that sound like it will work? :einstein:

That sounds very good.
I am going to type and print out every ones names now.
If anyone has a better idea.. then speak now.. otherwise this is the way it will go.

PS.. doing it this way means that you can have your name on the gift bag also.. either that or make sure you remember what your gift bag looks like:biggrin:
