Since you all LOVE to talk about your furbabies........

Zsa Zsa has not had any interest in her food. The lady we got her from said she fed her IAM'S puppy, small bites. I continued with the same but somedays Zsa Zsa would go without eating. There were times I have had to sit with her to get her to eat. Tonight DH and I ran to Petco and looked into different food. I ended up bringing samples home of Solid Gold Barking at the Moon dog food. Researching it shows to be a low carb/high protein food. I mixed 1/4 new food to 3/4 old food and Zsa Zsa went right to the bowl and ate. First time that has ever happened. I will continue and see if she stays interested.

I'm just not sure if she needs a high protien food as researching shows it is for performance dogs. Zsa Zsa does not equal high performance! They have other foods. Just wondering what you all think about pet foods and what you feed your dog.

Purina One Urinary tract formula. Some cheap (Meow Mix etc) which I try to convince them is treats. Scooter will not touch human food, altho he will demand to smell what I am eating, then he makes a disgusted face and runs off. Maxie will eat a few human things, roast beef and chicken unless I offend him by offering too large a piece. Now, Simon eats anything and everything. I caught him with his nose in my food several times, and once he tried to steal the meat off my fork. He also digs butter wrappers out of the trash and licks them. My son's cat demands brussell sprouts. We had a female siamese who would steal marshmallows unless we locked them up tightly.

They prefer Bil-Jac frozen food. It's what our policemen feed their police dogs, and there isn't as much filler, so ther is less to clean up in the yard.

Make sure it is all natural...no dyes and chemical additives...it really makes a difference in their digestive system. I at first was giving cricket all types of supposedly good dog food but she started hulking up reddish looking food she just had eaten and I realized it must have been the dye in the food. Now she loves all natural lamb and salmon flavored dog food in our local pet store. It is a little more expensive but she honestly has been great since the change and she likes the food!

Also, be really careful about dog treats...all natural is the best...no pig ears, and chews that have dyes and chemicals in them...really bad for their stomach...especially pig ears and chew bones that splinter.

Pucci has been on some sort (or another) of prescription dog food most of his life. For the past few years, he's been eating canned Hill's K/D.

In my limited experience with only two dogs - both of whom would have made the famously finicky Morris the Cat look like a dream to feed - they usually immediately show interest in something new. Then.....

But it's always important, when changing foods, to introduce the new food slowly, or it can upset their stomachs. That's the conventional wisdom. I do know a few people who constantly change their pet's foods "cold turkey" with no problem, rationalizing that their pets (dogs) enjoy the variety. Perhaps, but I wouldn't try it.

well my dog tracy eats what ever we give her! but we have had some picky animals too. we had a cat that would only eat science diet kitten food. and NOTHING else. not even tuna. she would kill birds, squirrles, mice, but not for food just for fun!! and another cat the same way.=huh

Being part pit bull, Kiefer has sensitive skin. He would eat something, and develop a rash. I finally put him on AvoDerm, and he did very well on it. He's now on Blue Buffalo. The first ingredient is meat, and there are no by-products.

I also boil up some chicken backs, necks and gizzards, and pick the bones clean. Then I freeze them in small containers with a bit of the broth, and use that during the week to "flavor" his food and give him something different to eat once in a while. I can't imagine how boring it must be to eat dry "cereal" all the time, so he gets the daily addition to his bowl.

There is a company that makes doggie dessert, all natural with different fruits. He has tried it and liked it. He also likes a piece of apple now and then, and a chunk of carrot. He LOVES carrots!

Whimsy, Zsa Zsa will get fat eating high calorie performance food.
Maybe she isn't feeling well and should be checked. She could also have another source of food . One dog I had many years ago would not eat in the evening until he heard the dishwasher going and knew all hope of people food was gone. He also had another source of food with a neighbor who always let him in to play with their cat. He would eat catfood and they would give him steak. He finally lost weight when we moved away and had an escape proof yard.

People who "save" money with poor quality dog food pay for it in higher vet bills.

I feed mine Wellness Weight Management.

They also get homemade jerky and raw meaty bones. Never cooked bones because they splinter. They also get fresh or dried veggies as treats.Sometimes I will cook them some rice & add some of their kibble.
Bad mommy hasn't made them treats in a long time. This is something I really have to do for them, storebought are too expensive.

Right now we are using Purina One. Buck was on Science Diet Z/D food for dogs with allergies. Since we've gotten Georgie his allergies have seemed to disappear (we will have to get through spring to be sure). Since he was eating Georgie's puppy food without problems we decided to give the adult version and try and it has worked. Now that Georgie is older they both eat the same thing.
