My Solo Splendor repo cruise (with pics) 10/24/14

What a nice start to yet another nice review.
You do such a good job, always nice to follow these reports. Feels like we all are onboard with you. Nice photos from New York too. Got plans to go there next summer.

Great review so far! I'm looking forward to more.

I was on Splendor for a few hours while she was docked in Boston several weeks before your cruise. So, it's like seeing an old friend. The Liner Bar was a wonderful area, I thought. I loved the funnel design -- and did you get any photos of the ships that are by the elevator? (I will say no more other than that they were stunning.) I love when the interior designers add touches that appeal to us liner fans.

I just published a review of my lunch at Mongolian Wok. You are so right about the lines. I had a wait and it was a port day with many still off the ship. But well worth it, IMO.

Thanks again for bringing us onboard with you!

Lisa, I didn't take pictures of those liners on this cruise, but did take pictures last year.

Hello again everybody! Time to tell you about our first of three consecutive sea days.....

CS129.jpg

Since we were sailing south, and my cabin was on the port side, I would be able to watch the sun come up from my balcony on our sea days. I woke up just before 7am, and saw my first sunrise of the cruise.....

Feeling a little hungry, it was time to head up one deck to the Lido for breakfast. The stairways and elevators were just steps away from my cabin.....

The Atrium elevators.....

I walked up the stairs and out into the Splendido Pool area. Though it was a lot warmer today than yesterday when we boarded, they still had the roof closed.....

Love the areas with the glass top pool area for cool weather. It always seems so much more quiet than the big main pool area.

This is the forward Omelet Station. This becomes the Mongolian Wok at lunchtime.....

I head up the stairs to the Rotisserie, to eat my breakfast. There is no one up there, so plenty of tables to choose from. Here is my first breakfast of the cruise.....

CS155.JPG

Breakfast done, I head all the way aft to check out the Splendor's wake.....

The Liner Pool and hot tubs are empty this early.....

I'm feeling like a bloody mary, so I head to the Liner Bar and Gusti sets me up.....

After a couple of those, I decide to take a walk around the ship and take some pictures. Here's the smoking area on Deck 10 aft, starboard side.....

Let's do a quick tour of the Serenity area on the Splendor. The Serenity on this ship is my least favorite of all the ships that I have been on that have a Serenity area, because it does not have a pool or even a hot tub. Thankfully, the Liner Pool and hot tubs located all the way aft, are adult only. Serenity sign....

CS168.JPG

21 or older. I don't agree with this. If you are old enough to serve our country, you should be allowed here. JMHO.....

CS169.JPG

Serenity, Deck 12 forward, starboard side. That shower is the only way to cool off up here.....

I needed to be able to check emails and communicate with Patti, so I needed to head to the internet café, which on the Splendor is called The Web. It is located on Deck 4 aft. You need to go through the Robusto Bar to get to it.....

Afterwards, I made my way to the Casino, and for the next three hours, played blackjack, until it was time to head to the roll call formal meet and greet. The organizer was able to procure the Cool Lounge, located on Deck 5 aft, on the port side. The name tags are lined up on the bar.....

Having finished my snack, it was time to head back to the casino and play some more blackjack. I played until it was time to get ready for our first Elegant Night Dinner. I'm down a couple hundred bucks at this point.

After getting dressed, I made my way to my table in the Gold Pearl Dining Room. Here is the view from my seat.....
